Owners Roll Call !

Yep, must admit I'm enjoying it.

Electrical gremlins ???
I thought my wipers wouldnt work on intermittent, but they did yesterday, and not today [8|]

If I leave the indicator switch up or down when parking, both my sidelights come on !

Apart from that, all is well, I think !

Cheers.

Hi
I purchased my 924S 6 days ago and even enjoy looking at it parked in front. Certainly brings a smile to my face even before driving off . It has become my PAJ and I look forward to receiving my sticker.SAE on the way

At last I have rejoined the ranks of 924S owners after my original 1986 Zermatt Metallic Silver 924S was stolen in 2002 having been in my ownership for over 12 years with 55,000 miles on the clock.

Managed to find a 1989 Zermatt Metallic Silver 924S with 86,000 miles on the clock and in a very clean and tidy condition but with a few mechanical issues. Got the price down and am on the road (went to R8 Event at Chatsworth) having had a clutch and gearbox fitted. Car now going in for annual service and to have the minor annoying things done. Drives well and boy does it feel good to be back behind the wheel again of a 924S. 'The smile' is back on my face.

I had a lot to do with the club in the '90's as I was Regional Organiser for East Midlands R8 Region for a number of years, taking over from Sandy Moore.

I am going to Silverstone on the Saturday and Eynsham on the Saturday, where I hope to meet both old and new 924 owners.

Hi - new member from Lancashire here. Just bought a black 924 (1982/83) ENW649Y on a bit of a whim. Seems pretty sorted for a 24 year old car, apart from the slight issue of not all of the wheels pointing forwards (see "crabbing 924" post) but still, I bought it to tinker with! I'd looked at a few other 70's 80's RWD starter classics, but the 924 seems to be pretty desirable in that it's galvanised and looks good and still costs less than people are prepared to pay for a Mk1 golf GTi or basic Mk2 escort.. I think it was previously owned (probably a while back) by a club member as there is a club sticker on it's window - anyone recognise the reg number?
P.S. membership applictaion in progress (14 days?)

Hello Neil

Welcome to the Club and the forum.
If you let me know your e-mail address I will send you a form to get you on the Register.

EMW 649Y does not appear on my personal database but a bit more digging might reveal some details.

Hello,
Jsu bought my first 924, B reg red, in good nick but can't seem to get the horn working - its the last piece of the puzzle to get my MOT! Going to put a new relay in and then if that doen't work, fiddle with the connections on the horn push, after that ................take it to a mechanic! I got a Haynes manual with it and been looking on the web so starting to get the general idea. Got some advice off people I purchased a few bits and bobs from as well but overall find its a fantastic car, though I'm afaid to show to my mates just yet!! Once I got the MOT I can start working on the rest of its problem, like getting the heater fan working and dry out the inside, fitting a body kit and alloys i just bought, fitting a (working!) radio and sorting out a dent on the drivers wing, pass elec window and sunroof not working and front fog lights not switching on.
Question: is it easier/cheaper to buy fit and spray a new wing or to get a (200mm long by 30mm deep) dent fixed, by a garage?(got no tools here at the moment!)

Will try and sort out my membership soon,
Paul Connaughton

Hi Gents,

Thought i would give you a peek at my 931 racer. Curently competing in the PCGB speed championship, and next years Borough 19 Series.
Lots of mods, barely a Porsche engine now!! Goes very well.

Regards,

Steve

Hi everyone, have posted elsewhere bu this seems to be where evrone introduces themselves, so here goes.

I'm Paul from up in Northumberland, also bought what is my 2nd 924 on a whim, but so glad I did, loved the first car and this one is just as much fun.
Swapped a Suzuki SJ for the 1st one, and bought this one for £155!! So never really cost me much both times to be a Porsche owner!![:D]

Hello Paul, Steve and Paul!

Paul, your horn problem couldn't be to difficult to solve so I'm sure you will be through the MOT in no time.

Steve, 924 motorsport is (to use modern terminology) under represented here, so if you want to start a racing blog here send it to me for Porsche Post that would be brilliant, the more the better!

Paul, £155 brilliant! Hearing about a car bought for this price is as exciting for me as hearing about a £155,000 car.

Send me an e-mail for a Register form (and a sae for a Register sticker)

Welcome all! [:)]

Hello! I am new here, although have owned my 924 for almost 2 years now! It's an Alpine White 924 Lux in great condition, except the engine needs either rebuilding or replaced....I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Billy

Hi June here,
I have a 1988 white 924S Le Mans, with the more unusual grey and tan stripe seats. She's just had some minor bodywork restoration carried out and now its time to sort out the engine, only 85,000 miles on the clock but not been started for 6 months.

Hi there, I've been a PCGB member on and off for a few years. My main passion is Pre 74 911s and I'm the founder and host of www.ddk-online.com

I wanted a daily runner recently and after toying with a 968 or 944 decided to go for the cheaper option and I'm very pleased I did. Instead I found a great 924.

It's a 84 924. It had a new engine 28K ago. Has had a new gearbox 4 years back. Amazingly has a full service history and a stack of history and big money spent over the years.

Has a snap off RS Steering Wheel

A full electric leather interior from a 944

Needed a few minor bits mechanically - the bodywork and structure is amazingly near on perfect.

So I set about 'playing' with it.

35mm Lowered Springs
Wind the back down a tad
Graphiques! Stripes, checks and visor.
Tidied up the paintwork including resprayed sills, valance and sort minor rust issues.
Strip and spray wheels shiny black all over!
Full service, new bearing or two, 12 month's ticket.

Having now owned it for a couple of months I'm really impressed with the 924. I've got a great reliable daily car that's fun on a budget. A few pics......

Hello! I'm not a Porsche Club GB member but I love Porsches (all models) and I visit this board every now and then, so I might just introduce myself.

My name is Mikko, I'm from Finland. At the moment I have a 924 Turbo series II. It is in good original condition and it's even equipped with limited slip differential. To me it is a very, very special car. I used to dream about this car ( and Lambo Countach!) when I was just a small boy. Now I have one. [:)] A little joy in everyday life.

I used to own 944 and 944 S too but 924 Turbo always haunted me in thoughts, so I had to get one.

Occasionally I think about 911 3.0 SC too. Maybe it is going to be the next one. But I'm not going to sell the 924.

Hi all,
My wife and I have just purchased our first ever Porsche! Having just sold our prized possesion a gorgeous Triumph Spitfire, we thought we'd be heading back to boring old normal town and get a "sensible" car, until we found this Porsche. Its 1981, in mint condition with only 68k on the clock, now we're both over the moon! Have just found this forum so are total newby's, but hope to chat more.
We're near Poole in Dorset by the way.
Cheers Caz and Stu

Hello all
I am now the owner of 924 Carrera GT number 387.
In very '80s red and pinstripe interior. I have ordered my matching red braces and I am working on my annoying city wide boy attitude to match the car.
Been fiddling with cars for 35+ years somewhere in there was a 911 2.2, as well as a raft of British iron and Italian alloy.
I look forward to attending a Porsche meeting or two and hooking up with fellow 924 despots (naturally I exclude Bootsy from this) and pointing out to 911 owners how ill thought out is their car's design.

Are there any other Carrera GT owners here?
