Poole Quay 2009 - Register BBQ 22-23 May

Just a gentle reminder that the hotel are asking me to release the rooms at the end of this month.
You may now be aware that it is a Bank Holiday over this weekend and rooms will be in demand.
A few of us are making a full weekend of it, so keep your eyes peeled.

Just to to clarify, it is not the event I'm closing but the hotel booking.
You are still more than welcome to join us on the Friday social in Poole and the Saturday where we do have a few remaining place left.

The hotel have now released the rooms we have not booked out to general bookings.
So they are still available to an extent.. on a first come basis..

Well with the usual 997 great response [:D] I'm pleased warn/say we only have a couple of remaining places for the Saturday evening BBQ.

We can accept a few more cars for the register and charity drive out.
We hope to be at the hospice to meet the children and carers for 3pm.
If you would like to get involved then please do get in contact with us, it is a rewarding experience.[:)]

Getting ready for Summer? Pictures taken last Sunday; apparently can't mention where two of them were taken, the others ...looking West to Poole Harbour and East to Portland from the military firing ranges at Lulworth, a-top Whiteway Hill - forms part of your planned day out.

I tried to get down there on Sunday too but I got caught up by having a coffee with friends in Surrey. By 11.00am there was too much traffic on the road and gave up south of Petworth. Having seen these shots, the 8 weeks cannot come soon enough.

I was able to combine a drive with a bit of boating today and took my camera. I hope you all enjoy the photos that follow. For those of you coming to the Poole Quay event this will give you a taste of what can be seen in Poole and the surrounding coastline. For those of you still thinking about it I hope it inspires you to come to the Poole Quay event in May

The boat a Goldish 29. For those of you nautically minded with a clean hull and full fuel she was pulling well over 54 knots (approx 63MPH)

We look forward to seeing all 997 members in Poole in May

Bob

looking forward to the event, even booked into the hotel for the 21st, and my sons will be coming in the boxster.

Hi. I'm a new 997 C2S owner... just joined this forum. Live in Lilliput (yes it does exist) off the Sandbanks Road. Will keep tabs on this as I may choose to hook up given sufficient passport clearance :)

GaryW, I am having to drop out of this sadly. I will now be in Scotland for that weekend battling with some salmon.

Okay Mark, at least you'll still be by the sea [;)]

David, welcome to the forum and hope to see you over the weekend at some point [:)]

Thanks Gary... Hope to meet up some time too.

Without wishing to spoil any of Garys thunder I have now driven the route he is planning for Saturday morning. You are in for a big treat if you are doing the Saturday morning drive with some great country views plus some fast and sweeping sections ending up with some great coastal views of Dorset.

Zig Zag hill as used by EVO is great fun but there is a fast section leading up to the hairpins so dont get caught out as the hairpins are tight with some good views so easy to be distracted. When you see the Zig Zag sign my advice is take it seriously as they are real hairpins but enjoy the bends.

I hope the weather is kind to us as I have already used the BBQ twice so far this year so Saturday night should be fun when we hear lots of driving stories. Hopefully no one will have let their car run into the Harbour!!

My first track day of the year is at Goodwood with the club on May 9th. Any other 997 owners going? If any one wants to experience a Turbo used on track I would be pleased to see you there

After last weekends drive out, I'm really looking forward to this [8D]
Thanks for running the route Bob and very pleased its got your approval.

I've got everything crossed for good weather over that weekend, we deserve it [:D]

Looking at entertainment for the Friday night, well dinner anyhow..
I see that Hotel du vin are continuing their £29 deal http://www.hotelduvin.com/2009/ which includes a bottle of wine- that £29 for the pair of you!!
or we could snack on the quayside??

garyw

Gary the event on the Quay starts at 6 and based on my experience of previous years I suggest you get there on time if you want to park in the central part of the quay. If you arrive later you will be parked some way down the quay which is not a major problem just not so nice. Hotel du Vin has a good local reputation
