Porsche 944 Prices - The Future....

ORIGINAL: PAUL RUDDY £24k .... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/944/944-turbo-low-miles-with-amazing-history-and-provenance-best-available/3701899
This has been for sale privately for the last 2-3 months around £19k Looks like a dealer has bought it and is playing the long game (unless it is sale or return?)

Correct, been on Pistonheads privately for a while, if a dealer has bought it they obviously believe there is a potential buyer out there at or near the price range.

ORIGINAL: Hallsy Seems a shame not to use it. I've only ever been in one of that era, an '87 Carrera Targa, lovely car and felt like a real event being in it - would love to own an aircooled 911 one day, but not likely unless my numbers come up, lol!!
I have been going through all my old car mags to bin/strip/cut or keep them for when we move house, I found a piece in a copy of classic cars from about 15 years on the best classics for under £7K. It was a shock to see a pre 74 911T mentioned alongside the 924 and MGB GT. It is genuinely shocking for any us that have been around Porsche for long enough to see what has happened to the air cooled stuff, many models gone up by as much as 4x or more in value. I just see air cooled as out of reach now because even if I could afford the £30K to £40K to get a half decent air cooled I know enough to know what a completely insane way to spend such money that would be (to me at least who still sees more than 10 grand on an SC as crazy expensive money).

You are right about using the car but the way the 911 market is going I can see it paying my mortgage off one day! And that does appeal to me and if the truth was know I get fed up after half an hour in the 911 it's a bit of a pain in the*##*. I prefer the 944 to drive.

A good mate has just had his totally immaculate 964 Anniversary with 39k on the clock valued by PCGB for insurance purposes.......................£100.000

I know Jimmy, he showed me his valuation. My 964 Jubi will need an updated valuation as well but it is high mileage with 51k on the clock [:D]

Great thread love the fact that finally these cars are going up in value[:)] Mine however at the highest valuation is still worth about 50% of what it's cost me[:D].....so let's talk up values as much as possible before the wife finds out[;)]

I've just put a post on the sc forum to see if they have an idea what it's worth insurance due in March. Insured for 50k last year which put the premium to £500 for that and £130 for the 944

Will you ever tell what its cost you? I have to say the recent surge in values hasn't hurt my insurance claim.

Maybe we should all just start listing our cars for double the current price whether we want to sell them or not. Most people value cars based on what they are selling for or being advertised for. We could say 7k min for lux 10k for S2/cab and 14k for Turbo's I am sure we have enough cars in the club to manipulate a market!

A friend of mine sold his M3CSL years ago due to pressure from his mrs. He listed at as the most expensive one in the country and said that it kept his mrs happy that it was up for sale but if it sold then he'd be very happy at that price. It sold and any thoughts he had of buying a cheaper toy with some of the proceeds quickly became a new kitchen.

Well it looks like there are some more eye openers on Pistonheads. That 2.7 Lux with 45000 miles in Cheshire that was up for £12,995 seems to have gone, presumed sold I guess. There is now only one throttleshop 944 Turbo for sale (there was three wasnt there?) which is at £16995 with 106000 miles. and of course the 86 turbo 37500 miles for £23990 Then of course the Turbo S at Paul Stephens for £18k, wth 118k miles. And a 51000 mile S2 Cab for £12500 which is probably the car I am most interested in seeing if it sells. Cabs are funny beasts, on the one hand if it was any other brand of car it would be much more sought after than the coupe, but in Porsche circles that never really happens instead in the 911 models they seem to be worth less than a coupe.. Historically the 944 S2 Cabs have typically fetched about 20% more than a coupe S2, so it will be interesting to see what happens with this one at £12k Still no closer to working out how much I should sell this 2.7 Lux I have with 70k miles though

I would have looked at the cab if I didn't have one for that price. I looked at a turbo cab when I got mine did the deal on the phone for a apparently mint one with 60k on in turned up all excited only to find a load of rubbish and that was 12k. Two years ago. All I'm saying I can't be the only one who would pay that for a cab. I wanted one for twenty years and there are not making any more of them! Still got a Itch for a turbo cab but they may be getting out of reach.

George, Fenchy, No.. Still not got around to listing it for sale, I should also put a couple of my 944 turbo's I never use up for sale as well... But as most people who know me will know.. I might not get around to it for a while! lol

I'm hoping the 944 S (due to it's rarity nowadays and build number) will one day become as valuable as the 964 RS. You never know!... [:D]

ORIGINAL: Waylander I have the answer for 968 owners just advertise them as 944 S3 the values will rocket
They already have shot up.. I was buying 968's in average condition about 4 years ago for £4k to £5k a time and almost bought a clubsport with M030 in scotland for £6k.. A couple of years before that I sold my super low mileage 968 CS which was black, right hand drive, fully loaded with the CS bits for £14k (6 years ago) Now any of those £4k cars would be £8k cars, and the Clubsport would be a £25k car. There was a dip for the 968 in the recession around 2010, but they certainly have risen higher than pre recession values already
