Porsche 944 Turbo Restoration - Picture Heavy

This is surely going to be the best 944 in the country for many many years to come. Good on you for putting all of that effort into the second best model in the range. [:D][;)]

Fantastic thread! I think you offer this to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart as a loan - surely better than any other 944 they have on display!

This really is going to be a stunning car when finished We need a long feature in Porsche Post showing this car off and then clean up at the PCGB National Concours [:D]

ORIGINAL: colin944 When your putting the loom etc back into the engine bay buy new screw in tie wrap things. You can get them from Porsche at 38p each . I replaced all of mine after fighting with the old ones, makes life much easier and the job much easier and all for less than a tenner.
Hi Colin do you have a part number or picture, the ones from the USA are a real pain[;)]

Great job ! we are doing similar restoration on son's 951. We have tried to find out how does UK models battery tray look like. Our plan is to remove battery from it's original location (son's car was sold originally in Switzerland) to back like it is on UK models. Found out you have fabricated a new tray. Any chance you have dimensions available, so we could fabricate similar one ?

Sounds great ! Thanks :) Looks like i am forced to do douple restorations at the same time. Just made an agreement with a friend of mine who has a 951 for parts. His parts car have ABS which my 951 lacks. He promised all ABS parts to me if i give him my 951's non ABS parts.... So we are going to make double Boxster ABS conversion at the same time []

as you can see the headlight wiring harness was not the best so I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and buy a direct wiring harness ....5 mins install, totally reverseable what could go wrong[:D] dodgey harness

new direct harness
005_zps586020c0.jpg
OK well it fits but just looks totally wrong.. 1,firstly the wires will not go through the OEM weather proof caps 2,wires are far too long and the insulation looks cheap and nasty 3.live does not reach the battery or the alternator so here starts the 5 mins install[:D] firstly cut all the wires to the correct length and added connectors to allow the light protection boots to be used, covered everything in heat shrink....starting to look better
002_zpsb52a79a8.jpg
now the harness comes with a small mounting plate and inline fuses which do not look exactly Porsche quality so I laser cut a mounting plate and powdercoated matt black

Sorry for the long post but it's only a 5 min job[:)] mounted it on the existing brackets........took me a little over 6 mins I guess I'm a bit slow[:D]

pM me your email and I will send the drawing[:)]

Just pm:ed my e-mail address. Nice job with wiring harness. I have so called Ice Shark kit which i got years ago from late Dan Wray as a birthday gift. I have planned to duplicate it, so i can have one in my own 951 and the second one in son's project car. That's a perfect solution to mount relays to that factory made bracket with a plate. I suppose i will do the same.

Back from holiday in Mexico ...major jet lag I don't normally suffer but got it bad [] best cure for jet lag a nice easy bit of Porsche restoration so I decided to refurb the wiper motor assembly ... opened up the motor assembly to find

On the one hand I admire a man who will move house in order to have a better garage, but on the other I wonder how he spun this to his wife?
