Porsche Spotting

Lovely red convertible with top up in Burpham, nr Guildford, at 7pm last night. I got a tentative wave as I was in Black Beauty .

Just seen a red D plate on the Narborough Road in Leicester, looking smart with toast rack rear valance and I think red painted spoiler.

Never see that before.

I was in the van again!

Mike

Just been down to Fosse Park Leicester and seen a nice S2 in metallic blue and a beautifully kept Guards Red earlier car, no one arround! For a change I was in '44 but in a completely different area.

Mike

I've seen two today. One black on a G plate coming out of Neptune industrial estate, Rochester at about 13:00 and a red turbo (Personalised plate) overtake me on the outside of the tight left handed turn back on its self exit from the M25 to the M40 going towards London at about 18:00

A-Plate red Lux coming down school road in Ashford (Middlesex) going over the BP Garage traffic lights... I did wave [:)]

Twelve assorted Porsches Moving along Snake Pass in the Peak District. We have the video.

Midnight Blue Carrera 4s
Guards Red 944 Turbo Cab
Guards Red 944 Turbo
Laguna Green 911 3.2 Carrera
Black 968
Guards Red 911 Carrera
Metalic Blue 928 GT
Metalic Blue Boxster
Silver 997
Nautic Blue 944 S2
Silver Cayenne
White 944 S with S2 front and S2 brake calipers

I'vw seen a black 944 on a G or H plate twice this week at the foot of the M1 heading north from Brent Cross. Can't be sure but think the last three characters on the plate were HVV or similar!

Just wondered, is it standard practice for porsche drivers to wave? I have had my 944 a month and waved at a few, got a couple returned.
Or, "inter model" - i.e. 944 to 944?
Or, "classics only" - i.e. a 944 to 911, but not , say, to a Cayenne?
So much protocol!
Anyway, to the point, I saw a lovely red 944 turbo in the car park at Fort Dunlop, 2 weeks ago....
I am now a regular on the M6, in the morning, into Aston - white 944 convertible.

I don't know about other people, but I wave at all older models - 356, 924, 944, 968 and 911 up to 993. Anything newer and (no offence meant to owners of newer ones) they often don't recognise anything other than the car they are driving as a Porsche.

I think generally, that when there's a shared sense that the cars driven are not 'ten a penny', it gives us a sense of shared identity which makes us want to wave. That's why classic car drivers of differing marques will wave to each other. Likewise, if it's a very limited recent model, then I guess drivers would feel the same . . . whereas Boxter owners, I guess, are part of a great big melange and (correct me if I'm wrong) could feel odd waving to each other. .

Saw two 944's in convoy travelling down the A12 today. Red turbo reg F835*** and a Gold/Zermatt S2 (I think) reg PIL ***. Followed them from the A12/A14 junction down to the A120 where I had to turn off. Typically I wasn't in my '44 at the time. Was that anyone here ?

I agree, there is definately a thing about being in an 'alternative' style of car, whether or not its a daily driver.

I always wave at an older Porsche when in mine!

Do too many mile in a white van though!

I used to have an XJS, classic Impreza and still have an old land rover. Used to get waves from people with same vehicles in them. Get it In the porka too.. Misses thinks I know a lot of people.

Guards red 944 with design 90 wheels driving through Hockliffe towards Dunstable, Bedfordshire at 6pm on Monday 28th September.

Was on my motorbike so didn't wave :)

white 944S parked at the end of my road, (in West Street, Weedon Northants) - has it moved here, or just passing through?
Also, the missus saw pale blue 944 going through Towcester earlier this afternoon - you go for weeks without seeing one, then they're all over the place!
