Rolling Road Day for article for 911 & Porsche Mag

Lee, I have managed to twist several arms and give away many, many favours [8|] but I can now make it with my wifes S2 if there is still space? I can be there from 9 to 9:30 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

for 12th September:

1. Lee Hardy (Turbo)
2. Mike (2.5) 9XXC
3. Nick Appleton (Beetle)
4. Edd Marques-Mortimer  (S2)
5. Peter Seymour-Howell PSH (Turbo)
6. Mark Koeberle (Secret Turbo)
7. Alexw (S2)
8. Tony F (Turbo)
9. Paul. S (S2)
10.

I just got home and am condsidering hooking up the wideband to the piggyback so I can tune on the way up, or leaving it as is to compare with last time, as is might win, but then the later I leave the better the traffic will be. I will aim to be there by 9.30, in the morning, should be good ;)

Wow .. Tony.. talk about going for gold...good luck.. can't remember how long it took my son but it wasn't too bad. Mind you wiring up both the piggyback and wideband is some task just routing all the wires.

BTW you can set up the piggy back to use closed loop fueling although for the life of me I can not remember what my son did to achieve this[8|][8|][8|]

Pete

Not sure how "as it might win" ended up in that post! That's what happens when you leave your pc to go and eat dinner! Wish I was that confident ;)

not going to comment about red cars as it might win ; )

Or I might wind the boost up a bit.

Oh and in the end I hooked the wideband to the piggyback and logged a run, its close but a bit rich on boost so I decided to leave well alone for now. I have a new engine temp sensor since last time, and the boost is set better at around 18 psi so will be interesting to see how it goes.

What a great morning this was!! Seriously cool way to spend a lovely sunny autumnal morning, nice egg and bacon roll, tea and coffee, and a great bunch of fellow petrolheads who are all more interested in driving their cars than anything else.

Some really nice cars there, with just one air/oil-cooled interloper, ahem...![;)]

Some pics...

The nervous 'father' anxiously awaits the outcome of the power run - the rest of us bolt for the door as the room fills with unburnt hydrocarbons!![:D]

The expectant 'fathers' await their turn on the rollers!

Most of us then retired to a lovely old pub nearby that Lee has fallen out of a few times...[;)]

And the final figures??...

Lee, please tell me if I'm contravening any magazine embargo, with this last one??!![:D]

To end, many thanks to Lee for organising it and to the guys at Dyno Demons who were friendly, professional and totally accomodating all day.

Great to meet you all and look forward to doing it again one day soon.

Cheers
Nick

Excellent photos Nick and love the punch lines.

Thanks everyone for making the effort to come from far and wide[:D][:D][:D]

Look forward to another one in the future after I have sorted my fuelling out.
Just so I can knock Nick's Beetle off its pedestal[;)][;)][;)]

And what a fab piccie at the "Thatch" pub Nick, looks great........Funnily enough I
could have stayed there like old times and fallen out of the door later, very tempting
sat there in that beautiful afternoon sun.

Hope everyone had a nice drive home.

So for now from the "Leisure Peninsular" have a great weekend[:D][:D][:D]

Lee

Just got in the door, lovely set of pics Nick (and I have to admit your new car looks fantastic).

Excellent day Lee and the perfect finish in a lovely country pub on the leisure peninsula, with baking weather to boot. Very happy with the figures for my wifes car, just a little down on the Weltmeister figures a few years ago but with an extra 20k miles on the clock and very nearly at 200k now.

They know how to build them [:)]

Hi Guys

Was going to post some pics but Nicks say it all, so I wont bother here. Will post on Photobucket .com A9XXC later.

Great day, thanks to Lee and Steve and all his staff, very good and professional, checked out my water leak, worked out the cause and sorted it.
Thanks very much guys and gal.

Very pleased with 148.2bhp, 26 years old and lost only 10%!

Lee, how did you arrange the weather to be quite so superb?

On to a lovely pub to continue the day with a bunch of very companions, then a blast home and NO WATER on the drive!

On to the next one.

Mike

Well the day was perfect.. ( well except my fueling..lol) no but seriously everything was great, was good to meet up with new faces and to relive past adventures with old. The weather was gorgeous to say the least and all the cars looked great in the sun. Thanks to Lee for organising this and thanks also to Steve at Dyno Demons for spending time after each run to diagnos any problems. I found it particually helpful in learning how hot my intake temp was and even more so to learn how much power that one thing alone was costing me( up to 25% according to steve) add that to the fueling issues, ( er yes guy's sorry about the black smog[8|][&:][8|]) and I'm not to woried about the weak performance by my poor old car...[8D]
The drive there and back was faultless and I took your advice Lee and stopped off at the Horse Shoe Pass... at least I scored a few more points with SWMBO...[:D]

So look forward to the next one and this time I promise to get the car sorted and break that damn 400bhp mark... there now i've done it... hope SWMBO doesn't read this....lol

Pete

Yes excellent day, thanks to all, I have lost some more power, but then my car hasn't had the attention it deserves for a while. Lovely weather, great lunch and good company, excellent!
Tony

Just got back home, same as above, really enjoyed the day and some great looking cars, my S2 is 10hp and 20ftlb torque up at the mid range after fitting the promax chip, seems to improve torque more than hp but happy with that.

Thanks to Lee for organising the day.

Edd

Any moderators watching, any chance of making this a sticky thread so that any future Dyno days can be all grouped together and we can all track any improvements/additions?

As Pete says, the post run debrief was extremely useful as Seve interpreted the various graphs for each owner - in particular the AFR one gave you a great indication of where either there was more power to be had (with a remap) or where the car might be running dangerously lean at certain points in the power/torque curves.

Still buzzing from it![:D]

Hi Nick,

I can put it in the faqs if anyone wants, but Rick's site has been covering the dyno days for years and has all the previous data there already. Was he aware of this one, you could send him the printouts and I'm sure he'll add them for you?
