I can't for the life of me understand what the rush is.

It's rather like waiting for Christmas morning when you were a kid [:D] Is it here yet? Is it? What about now?

So far my "commitment" to this stretches to the time it took me to write one email. I am not out of pocket and am quite content to wait patiently. I have a working traditional 944 sun roof to tide me over in the (seemingly unlikely) event that summer decides to put in an appearance.

Hi all what happened just realised the updates to my email stopped ,did anyone get any sunroofs or was it all a pipe dream ??

Sorry for the radio silence folks.

As I've been distracted a bit with some other things I've not been keeping the usual weekly pressure on Pilkington so after a prompt from Oli I got in touch with Nick and got the following response:

"Not sure what to say, I'm more embarrassed than anything, I spoke to them [Pilkington US] yesterday and they have started work on them now all the bits are here. The main chap sorting it is on site next week and is confirming the shipping date then but my breath is not held until I receive the date.

I'm not sure what pulling out will achieve as it doesn’t affect the delivery time, in any case I understand their frustration.

All I can say is I'll come back to you next week when I hear off him."

Once a delivery date is confirmed (could be...and I must stress COULD be next week) then you can expect the Pro Forma e-mail at which point they will be shipped to your chosen pick up point.

To be fair to Pilkington (as much as I don't feel it is deserved) they have not taken a penny from anyone until they can confirm the order and delivery so at least nobody is out of pocket although you may be out of patience....and sunlight....and nice, warm days where it is bright but not quite warm enough for the panel to be out entirely....hold up, have they even happened yet anyway?!

So for those that are keeping the faith...it's still on!!

Halleluiah.

This is his reply to me on the 22nd;

Hi Scott,

Im sorry about this but I really don’t have any more details on the delivery date, the guys in the states are giving me little information.

Totally agree with you its not good practice and im as frustrated with it as you are as im in the middle here.

Regards

Nick

Read the RL thread and see how long it took them to develop and make the damned things. This is such a small enterprise for Pilkington, unfortunately.

Progress has been made apparently and shipping is now "expected" within a fortnight.

Still not holding my breath.....for more than a few days of sunshine or my Saratoga. Nick actually seemed upbeat for the first time in discussions with him though!

We're nearly there....still. Go Pilkington. :ROFLMAO:

Haha! :ROFLMAO:

Assuming your lead times are sometime between now and an indefinite time in the future, that your email response to any concerns is sporadic at best and that you make the production of what seems like a very simple device seem more complex than putting men on Mars....sign me up!!

Hi Tom You are not taking the delicate production process of these bespoke bits of card seriously !

I forgot to say I can change the colour of the coloured in seals and also as a added feature when you go to bed you can hang it above you on a couple of wires from the ceiling to give you the maximum amount of time to enjoy the 944 experience like virtual reality ......and although I have not started the design /production of these units I fairly confident you will see them before the pilkington units even though they have had a significant head start 😎

I'm sorry if I came across as being flippant. You have clearly been thinking about this for some time...presumably the seed was planted at the start of this thread.

I hope you are going to do windscreens as well with classic circuits as the view ;)
