Saratoga Sunroof - Bulk-Buy

Mis-counted the order by 10 units! 'Mericans - says it all!

Thanks for the update. Let's hope they are ready for collection/delivery soon!

Good work Fripp(o)! [:)]

Oli.

Sorry to be the first one to pull out but this is not how I do/did things in my professional career?

I cannot believe a company the size of Pilkington/NSG would be so un-professional?

I have put together group buys elsewhere on the web and everyone knew where they stood with the provider from the outset with copies of e-mails, alas, we haven't had that assurance on this occasion?

Sorry Tom and Oli but this is enough for me.

Pilkington may be big but the Saratoga tops are new to the UK ops.

Sorry you feel you've been kept in the dark. I'm far from a group buy veteran, just wanted to do something good for the benefit of everyone on the forum (I could easily have kept all this to myself or even made some cash on the side!) and unless something's happened I don't know about, you shouldn't be out of pocket in the process so I guess you're just being impatient or weren't that serious from the off.

Still, your choice to pull out because of a lack of professionalism. I'm happy to continue to wait for my Saratoga Top as much as I 'm prepared to wait for the summer to arrive so I can enjoy it![:D]

Yep plus 1 to what Tom said. It's not like they are sitting with our cash.

I agree communication could be a little better but this is hardly an every day order. I know for a fact (as I have emailed him myself) that Nick is waiting for the confirmed delivery date before he sends out the invoices. Thanks again to Tom for arranging this..

I'm not personally bothered about the wait. I know these things take time. We do have a culture of "NOW" these days so can understand if some are frustrated.

I do find it a slightly strange that, given the ease of communication via email, the person running with this at NSG couldn't knock up a few generic lines of text to say they have received our initial order and a brief overview of the current situation.

Obviously all the up to date info is in this thread anyway, but I think it would give people a warm feeling to hear straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

As I said, I'm not personally concerned, just playing devil's advocate!

Now don't you guys start pulling out, I'm kind of looking forward to having one of the few cars with its original roof still attached....;)

*** UPDATE ***

I've been in touch with Nick who passes on his apologies for the radio silence.

Apparently the Americans miscounted their stock by 10 units and are having to finish the order by adding the modified catches to the final 10 (they are all supposed to ship with the modifications, 10 of the units did not have this fitted though).

It's all progressing still and I'm keeping the pressure on.
Thanks for your efforts, Tom/Fripp.

As you say, you could have chosen to benefit personally out of this. So much appreciated.

I just hope they arrive this year !

Yep! They're fitting the final 3 units with the modifications that they made after the first set of deliveries were made to the guys on the TIPEC forum in the US.

I have it on good authority that the guys in the US are bring pushed as much as possible by Nick....well that's what he said anyway.

Keep the faith! I'm still pushing, they're still counting but I've kicked up enough fuss so that EVERYONE knows we're all still waiting!!

the modifications that they made after the first set of deliveries were made

This is slightly concerning - any idea what these "modifications" were ?

Hopefully not to get them to fit ?!

I think the modifications are on the fasteners. The first ones did not seal properly but this was rectified. I understand it will be sunny this coming weekend so let's hope they get here soon :)

My understanding is that the Saratogas have been made for... decades - for 968s and 944s.

So what are these "first ones" - are they the first of a new batch ?

In any case, surely all the plans, drawings etc. including for the fasteners should be to hand and the panels could just be rolled out ?

Yet there seems to be a problem.

I must admit I am getting a bit nervous about this.

There was a group buy a while back (I think in Rennlist). They modified the fastening mechanism. Something to do with loctiting the fasteners in place as they were coming loose. I think this is the modification they are carrying out on the remaining units. Am sure all will be fine. It's not like we have paid up front.
