She broke my car.

Apparently Porsche brakes are better than a Vauxhall Vectra's.

What an awful sight!

Did you get any pics of the Vectra? Cos I bet its got a lot of damage.

P.S. I think you ought to change your signature line.

[:D]

The Vectra is in the background of the first Pic. The bonnet is now in a nice V shape - basically the Vectra is a definate wrightoff!

Here's one of the re-modified rear wing. Note the now excellent panel gap between the wing and the door!

Yikes []

That looks like an awful lot of damage Carl [:(]

Early days but I think unless you want to lose the car you'll need to negotiate with the insurance company to get that lot repaired with good S/H parts from a breaker. New parts and anything like a Porsche dealer will cost well in excess what the insurance company value the car.

Are you lucky enough to have an agreed value?

Luckily you don't have those modified clear rear indicators that a lot of people are fitting, or she could claim your rear light clusters were non-standard and had been messed with [;)] [:D][;)]

I'm lucky in hat I have an agreed value for the car. This unfortunately means that it I'm sure the Insurance comany (and I'm pretty sure that the driver of the car that smacked me up the ar$e will be footing the bill), will repare the car (agreed value is ÂŁ11k).

The car is pretty banged up - a bit like my head - I feel like i've got the worst hangover!

To add insult to injury, after she finished hitting the rear, she then decided to take a lunge at the front wing, so that has a nice dint / scrape on also.

I'm just glad that she (she was quite old), and her 87 year old passenger were okay.

I'm hopefull that they'll write it off, so I can buy it back!

So any Paul, about that polish and those lights[:D] - might just wait a while - not sure this one will polish out[:)]

Edit: repare!!!! definately concussed!"ÂŁ$

Bloody hell Carl [:'(] - glad everyone is OK and I hope you get things sorted out [:(]

I know the owner of a top class body shop down here in Teesside if you want it sorting

Cheers for the sentients.

I'll keep everyone informed on how it goes.

I guess the first thing that will happen is the car will go to Bill Heaney's here in Newcastle to assess the damage. They are a Porsche and BMW approved repairer(my BMW is booked in there next week as somebody side swiped that also[]). I'll keep posting pics and progress as it goes!

Here's another couple of pics to keep you going.

This one's of the re-profiled exhaust and boot floor.

B'jesus, consolodatory wine and concussion now taking hold. That of course was sentiments!

Sorry to hear that; you're being remarkably calm about it though since that is without doubt written off I would say.

I must have been about 2 seconds slow to see a Mazda parking its nose under the back of a Mondeo yesterday in a village between Horsham and Guildford; I saw it in time to see the contorted faces of both drivers but luckily they both looked OK.

Thanks Fen,

To be honest, I'm kinda hoping it's going to be written off - it was in perfect nick before, so it won't be the same knowing it's been repaired (and no-matter how well it's repaired, it ain't gonna be worth as much!) I'm probably calm because I know it wasn't my fault, so it'll all be payed for (fingers well and truly crossed!)

It might make a good start for a track car though[;)]

We'll just have to see how it goes.

Here's my Boot from the inside - note the angle of the boot carpet in the for-ground near the rear seats. I think this shows that the whole back of the car is bent. I noticed that the rear hatch was at a funny angle at the top as well []

Looks from this one that the rear wheel is pointing in the wrong direction as well.

Don't know what that'll do to the Diff (assuming that's not broke as well!)

That's very sad news Carl. Looking at the pictures, and particularly noting the transfer of forces to other areas, I would have to agree that MIL 8892 is beyond reasonable repair.

Dented Mondeos are no big deal but it is always upsetting to see a discontinued classic bent. No car is beyond resurection, I've seen a classic Ferrari F1 car rebuilt from nothing more than a chassis plate, but you have to consider what is sensible. I'm glad to hear you have an agreed value and, if you get the full price, you may well be able to get a replacement with money in hand. You might even make a few bob on a buy back and sell off the bits.

Puts on his vulture suit and starts circling above - Can I have your interior?

sorry to see your PAJ in such a bad way Carl, i know i would be complety speachless if it was mine, but im glad to hear no-one got hurt. On a darker side you might have to think about letting it go and getting another, as from the pictures it looks like a lot of damage running through the car, which can be fixed but at what cost, and also will you ever truly trust the car in the future.

Marc

Well,

The insurance assessor is coming out in the next couple of days, so I'll find out then what happens. Your right though Marc - it won't ever be the same car again.

If it's broke, I had already thought of buying it back - either to repair at an independent, or to flog off the bits.

I figure that the interior, wheels (D90's 7 &9.5J), engine and etc. must be worth more than I would have to pay to get it back! Even bits like the boot carpet (brand new), compressor (never used) , colour crested wheel centres and brake calipers will be worth stupid money on e-bay. I guess the plate must be worth a few quid as well.

If it is broken up John, I'll give you first refusal for the interior........

but it's not dead yet, just on the critical list[:D]

Have also noticed that the re-profiled rear wing (third picture I posted) makes it look like a 996 rear end!

Here's a great picture of the new exhaust system. The damage to floor makes me think that the transaxle has probably been damaged as well[] Should also be interesting to see if the spare wheel will come out!

Crap thing to happen but hats off to your pragmatic approach. I guess that's a little easier with a fixed value policy!

I really MUST send pictures to my insurer ~ smallrpint confirms that they won't honour the "fixed value" aspect unless they have pictures to confirm the condition of the car. Digital images not acceptable. Need to dig out the SLR and buy some fim then!

I used to have an agreed value on both of mine but that was on policies with mileage limited to 7500 p.a. Now that I do considerably more than that I couldn't find any unlimited policies with an agreed value so I've had to forego that extra peace of mind.

Your pictures are reminding me to look a bit harder at my next renewal and to hell with a competitive quote, I just want good cover.
