She broke my car.

If you are thinking of putting it back together again i have a rear back box and with crome finish if you want it, the only problem is getting it to you. Its a little tatty on the back box itself but ok apart from that.

The agreed value may also be a bit of a poison chalace as it turns out.

The person who hit me's insurance company contacted me and admitted liablity, and wanted to get everything sorted ASAP, but after speaking to my company, they said I must go through them first, or there's a chance I won't get my agreed value back for the car if they write it off!

Nothings ever simple! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a quick settlement and a write off[]

Carl, what sobering pictures ! I have my renewal coming up & I will now also be seeking agreed value, must send my pictures away too. I know how gutted I'd be if that was my car & also feel sure I would be a lot more "Colourful" with my opinion of the other driver, then again nobody was hurt & the woman depending on her age may loose her licence following such a violent contact. I would echo all the other posts in that I hope it all works out OK in the end.

Thanks Graeme,

To give a bit more circumstance, I have to be fair that it was just one of those things. There was some kids knocking a ball across the road. I spotted them, and also spotted the "spoon kick", so had to brake sharpley to avoid the ball stotting off the car.

Unfortunately (and there are alot of drivers like this), she obviously wasn't watching the road that far ahead. When I braked, she was too close and couldn't stop in time. It happens, and while I've never actually done it myself, I've had plenty of close calls!

The Police attended and have treated it as an accident (which I think is fair).

Of course this doesn't affect the fact that she ran into the back of me, and her Insurance company have already admitted liability. Now I have to look forward to a week on the sick (am already bored!) and a bit of a wait until I get told if my car is economical to repair or not!

Picture below shows the Vectra by the way (noticed the first pic doesn't show it!)

PS - Should have mentioned that Parker's value the car at a maximum of £9k at a franchised dealer, so it's well worth agreed value policies (mines a 90G, a 91J is apparently worth £11.5K with the same mileage), so obviously a load of crap there then! As ever, condition is king with these, rather than age (or to a certain extent mileage!)

Hi All,

Just a quick update.....

It looks like the car may be repaired....(There isn't a Smiley for mixed emocions!)

I'll know better on Wednesday when it goes into the OPC Bodyshop (Bill Heaney's in Newcastle) and gets up on the ramps.

The assessor recons it's a definate repair job, especially as I have the agreed value policy, but couldn't see everything because it was in the snow at the tow-yard (I wish he hadn't told me that bit[])

I'm going to try and get along to the bodyshop to take some more snaps while it's on the ramps (I'm relying on someone giving me a lift as I still can't drive []).

Well if it gets done by a Porsche Approved bodyshop you get a lifetime warranty on the repair so it should be done right at least. I have to say i'm surprised though after having seen a £1,000+ bill for literally just a back bumper on my S2 coupe when it was bumped from behind.

I'm happy that the car may be getting repaired (it will mean that a few of the older bits will now be new, including the exhaust!)

But I will be expecting compensation for the loss of value (no matter how well it's repaired, it's not original now, and therefore not worth as much [:(])

On the plus side though, as I wasn't going to sell the car for a long time anyway, it might just be a bit of cash in the pocket to do something with [:D].

On the downside, while I'm sure the assessor knows what he's doing, I'm not so sure he will be a Porsche specialist, and therefore know how much the bits are (like a £400 back bumper, or according to the PET system, 2K for a full exhaust & CAT, £675 for a new rear quarter panel, a staggering £1200 for the Turbo Under Valence, then add the rear number plate panel (£400), boot floor (£240), Spare Wheel Well (£150), Lock Carrier (£350) Front Wing (£385), and any mechanical bits that got damaged etc.....) and that's without the associated labour and paintwork to go with it - I'm sure there won't be much change out of £100 an hour, and it'll take a few hours.......

To end on a plus though, at least it won't mean that another Turbo goes to the big scrapyard in the sky!

Lock Carrier (£350)

Kerching! That's another bit I'm binning from mine - lock not connected to anything now so may as well have a rubber bung in the hole instead.

Happy to hear that the car that your car will repair and is not going to the great scrapyard in the sky. Here's a picture of my own 944 turbo, after a "bit of a problem reversing" at Knockhill

I was "reversing" at about 80 mph at the time, but the car was back on track within two weeks. [:)]

Digital images not acceptable. Need to dig out the SLR and buy some fim then!

Bear in mind you can get digital prints for about 10p each these days... although Lancaster accepted high quality inkjet prints from me.

And that way you can retouch them before you send them then [;)]

What? eh? Who said that? I didn't hear anything.

The "Lock Carrier" is only the metal plate that goes around the boot (where the boot lid seal and locks tack onto). But two locks, and the key thingy and gubbins comes in at £350 as well. And that's without the motor & cables!

Even the "Porsche" emblem on the back is £38. Raer light lens? £100.

And as for yours David, I hope you didn't have it in gear at 80 in reverse[:D]. And at least I didn't break the rear hatch.

Glad to hear that you will be keeping your car on the road & that you will get new parts where needed rather than having to accept good second hand parts in a trade off with the insurance company.

Carl - glad nobody got injured and that hopefully you get the result with the Turbo you have been looking for . Never nice to see a Porsche in that condition but your approach has been remarkable to say the least

Well I've got the repair estimate.

Does anyone want to take a stab before I post it out?

Closest gets a pint the next time I see them[:D]
