You forgot "while applying lipstick, while texting friend, while looking at the nice pink VW Beetle coming the other way, while having a blackout due to time of month!!"

A license to spend what you want on it from now on.

Its amazing what might be affected in the future[;)]

Err, Just to confirm, it wasn't MY missus that drove into the back of me - it was "a" missus. not related! I think.

Spooky how you know that MY missus has a cheap car (Citroen ZX Diesel), and I have a BMW and a Porsche to play with[:D]

Well, she's not into cars! She has more handbags than I do[;)]

Back on topic though....

Pic below shows how the inside of the sill should look - i.e no rust. Of course the very fact that I can take a picture of the inside of it tells you that the rear quarter (or half!) has been removed[]

Hi Carl,

I don't want to exagerate, but having a car professionnaly repaired like this means the shell will perhaps come out better than when it left the factory.
The people currently working on it have the opportunity to address all potential corrosion issues as they can look at just about every inch of the shell.
Not sure how much time they will have spent on it in the end, but certainly more than the shell was looked after during its build.

Looking forward to things turning out well soon.

They did uncover two areas of surface rust - one at the bottom of the boot underneath the battery - impossible to see when the car is in one piece, and eventually, it would have become a hole! And a second bit which was underneath the boot floor (so outside of the car) where the strengthener connects to the rear panel - again impossible to see when the boot floor and the rear panel is there.

Both areas were very small (I've shown the bit underneath the battery below), but both have been addressed.

They've also squirted more sealant into the sill, and renewed all of the underbody sealant. The job is quite amazing - if anything the way the sealant has been applied is too good (i.e neater than the factory!)
