Silverstone 944 track evening *MK2* August 17th

Hi Peter

wonder if garages have dried out.
got some of red 951 as well if hes interested (in fact almost anybody who was out)
Mike

That cabriolet M6 was mental [:D], it was one of the fastest things out there (I think only a Radical and a Caterham were going much quicker and both of those were on full wets). I assume there was a lot of stability and traction control going on, but it was quite a remarkable display nontheless.

Hi

Pics are at http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy158/A9XXC/Silverstone%20290709/

Wil try to add vid clips tomorrow - good one of you Peter and of the M6 Cab.

Spoke to M6 driver 22 yr old Saudi lad, 2nd last year in V8 Aussie type cars in the Gulf!

The V10 has been chipped and remapped, dynoed at 570bhp - 470 at the wheels about to change some things and expects 500 - 510 at the wheels, he turned all the gizmos he could off.

Mike

Nice one Mike, shame my headlight was playing up (waterlogged I think), some really great pics there [:D]

Hats off to the M6 driver then, if he had driver aids off and (I assume) standard road tyres then that was some awesome driving!

It was on road tyres -1 with large chunk of sidewall missing "caught the kerb in London" rears were bearly legal when he'd finished.

Vids are on the same site as pics now

Mike

Must say I enyojed watching all the cars.

Does anyone know who who the red 944T was?

He left quite early and I've only got a couple of decent pics but he's welcome to the jpegs.

Mike

:ROFLMAO:

Some say I don't know an apex from my elbow and that I needed a change of underwear after the slide at 8:38

All I know is I definately need some new wipers blades [:D]

Call that Wet? - it was only mildly moist by Donington standards [;)]

great vid Peter - shows how much quicker it is on the wet line (and where it is - never seen those lines round Silverstone before) I thought your moment at 8:38 was very well contained. [:D]

Most of my wet trackdays have been at Donington, but this seemed oh so much worse. It was only the following day that I realised I could have softened my suspension off [:)] I'd previously spent time playing with the settings and decided that full hard was my ideal for dry road and track and that I'd decided to leave it alone before I drove myself mad. For some reason it didn't even occur to me on the day. What a numpty!

now that is a bit dumb [;)] - good thing you kept it in one piece [:D]

What tyres were you on?

OK - so stiff suspension & worn 888's & you were wondering why it was slippy ? [8|] [:D][:D]

It was interesting that there was lots of standing water in some places but it looked amost dry in others.

[:D]

The track may have looked dry in places, but that was just the camera, the whole surface was soaking wet but only the puddles showed up in the video.

Right, one last bump as it's only a week to go [:D]

Places will be getting thin on the ground now, so don't delay booking if you haven't already, the long range forecast looks pretty good too which is a relief!
