Silverstone 944 track evening *MK2* August 17th

Good to see everyone last night.

The gallery is HERE

Range Rover tours of UK circuits always available. I'm sure that Canon would have sponsored us if they saw the number of 100-400mm IS lenses and bodies on the back shelf [:D].

Very impressed with Peter's project - lots of spannering gone on there.

Not so impressed with Simon who has still got some sound deadening and excess gaffa tape (and bird shi7 on the rear screen) which is really keeping the weight up [:D] [:D] [:D]

Excellent pics as always Rick.

My favourite is a third of the way down page 2, where you can clearly see that Phil is thoughtfully clinging to the old adage that 'size is not important'

A thoroughly enjoyable evening [:D]. I felt rather battered and bruised this morning. I think the next round of upgrades may have to consist of proper bucket seats, harnesses and harness bar.
I was struggling a bit with quite bad understeer on initial turn-in. Clearly my efforts at trail-breaking were a huge success, right up to the point I overdid it in spectacular fashion, hopefully not captured on Peter's in-car cam [:-]

Must say thanks to Peter for my first experience of a track kitted machine and what an unusual interesting and really well put together car.

Mike

Great pics as ever Rick and Mike [:D]

Shame the sound of my car was drowned out by that other car in the video, I'm quite curious to hear what it sounds like from the outside. The crash helmet removes most of the SC noise, which is a bit of a shame.

I've edited about an hours worth of footage from the video, and just need to remove another 20 mins to get it to my self imposed 10 min goal. I hope to have it finished tomorrow [:D]

Peter you'll need to sort out another evening so I can get a good drive by!

I do have a couple of other clips of you where the focusing is out but the sound maybe ok, I ll check later.

Rick - Great set of photos - love the MG pics!

That's a great idea Mike [:D] (as if I need futher temtpation to do another trackday [;)]).

That MG was clearly enjoying himself all evening, I'm sure I've seen him there before and he must use his side windows more than the windscreen. The 924 was taking some rather odd lines everywhere, it was getting a spectacular amount of roll which I'm glad to see has been captured in the pics, I bet it felt like it was about to roll over [].

Rick, I love that RS spin captured in all its glory :ROFLMAO:

I've just uploaded my video here. I've had to leave out quite few fun bits (like the Range Rover that was going around as well as the leaning tower of 924 and the numptys blocking traffic in the Mondial, 360 and 911 C4 and so on.

I hadn't tightened the camera mount properly again on the last run, but left it in as I was having so much fun with the Ginetta race car [:D] (which I think was on slicks)

For me it's quite intersting to watch it back as I can see how much faster the car is now, my gear change points are so much earlier and I'm in 5th for a lot longer.

Mike, thanks but I can only see one video of my car in your album?

Have you speeded up the video Peter? [:D] - car looks much quicker than when I was in it last month.

You've rumbled me Ed [;)]
I was noting an extra 15mph at the end of hanger straight, so it's fair to say that despite what is probably a fairly small power gain at the moment (given the boost is lower than it could be and the timing very conservative) it has had a very positive effect.

I want to try to do a picture in picture video to compare the two over a lap but it doesn't seem to be an option in Movie Maker sadly.
