Silverstone 944 track evening *MK2* August 17th

Looking doubtful for me as car is still down at JMG. I will be along to spectate, passenger, talk rubish as usual [:D]

I should have resisted and not said yes to the new exhaust last week, it would be back by now - maybe [:D]

Hi

Hope to be down next Monday with camera and was hoping I might be able to get a lap or two in a passenger seat.

Cheers

Mike

22 hours to go [:D]

After the slightly mad scramble last time I think it'd be really nice if we could have all the 944's (whether on track or just spectating) assemble in the pit lane for a group photo at the end of the day as we've managed in previous years. After that I'm sure we'll be heading to the Green Man Inn, it's postcode for anyone that misses the convoy and hasn't been there before is NN13 5TX.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there [:D]

Peter -- can I come out and play?? --- Just got back from Thruxton races and the car is in one piece so what better thing to do on a Monday evening !!

safe journey over to all

Never assume anything !! Just got an e-mail back from Melindi -- evening is full with a big waiting list.

Probably come on the off chance anyway - a bite and some banter wll be good.

A friend tried booking on Friday, at the time Melindi told him there were some short slots available in the afternoon (I was rather tempted to book some to make a longer day of it).

[] I was going to give her a ring this morning. I may still come along with the camera though.

I feel rough as a bag of badgers - completely gutted - going to call melindi in a bit not sure if I can pass it over to one of you, or if will have to go in waiting list order. Hope those that are going have an excellent time.

Hope you're feeling better soon Tony, it was a shame you missed it, it was a good day.

It was looking like it might be a bit of an anti climax with a few people dropping out due to car troubles, but in the end we had a few 944's circling throughout the evening on a nice warm and dry track, with a few more in the paddock.

In the afternoon I had my first tastes of a 3.2 944T, thanks to Mark for the pax laps. The engine is stupendous, it certainly feels every bit of its 411hp (and nearly 500lb/ft of torque), it completely monstered the straights. Not sure my brain is ready for that sort of power, think I'd need to develop a more delicate right foot first!

Thanks to everyone for making it such a good turn out, I'm already looking forward to next year!

Peter -- you forgot to mention how well your car went with it's supercharger on track for the first time. Brilliant, such a credit to you.

Good to see everyone -- the modded 944's were out in strength and looked impressive & quick -- then a bite and a laugh in the Green Man as the perfect way to finish off after some lappery on a summer's evening.

Me, I discovered a way of going to a trackday very cheaply indeed !! ie take the race car on its trailer, offlload it into a garage and then stare at it hoping for a spare space to appear from the organisers. Nothing appeared as insufficient no-shows and breakdowns, so load it up and go home!!

Gutted for you Paul, if its any consolation the car looked brilliant as ever!

Nice to see everyone and excellent fun to have passenger laps in 4 seperate and very different 944's:

Peters super lightweight Supercharged beasty
Steve Glasgows smooth riding KW'd 944T
Mark Daltons very black monster 3.2 (first time out on track)
Simon Davidsons even lighter lightweight lux.

The track seemed pretty quiet every time I was out, and it was really frustrating that Paul F couldn't get a place [&o]

Rick and John and A9XXC will hopefully have links to hundreds of photo's once they've uploaded them all, and if Peter posts some nice in car video footage then I promise not to reveal the funniest reason to always take your mobile phone into the toilets with you [;)]

I might have one or two that you can recognise the car in - if you take enough you sometimes get a good one.

A good laugh all round. I can thoroughly recommend Rick's Circuit Tours for Photographers - although, regrettably, we had either just left or turned cameras off when exciting things happened.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I still can't quite understand how I managed to close the loo door behind me without noticing there wasn't a handle on the inside... [&:]
Queue a quick 'help!' phone call to Paul to open it from the outside [:)]
