Spa Francorchamps and Zandvoort 2014

ORIGINAL: carreraboy

Steve ... Phil Schyns 993 Cup has taken my place in the TrackDay and Garage .... My Jury service may not be over by mid July ... But still hoping to take part on the day if possible and or attend the event ... All confirmed with Bookatrack ...

Fingers crossed that you can still make the trip too Des and great news that Phil is joining us. [:)]

Regretfully and because of work in their infinite wisdom changing plans on me, I am going to have to relinquish my spot for Spa. Going to let Bookatrack know tomorrow. I shall be moving my spot to the 30th July if anybody is thinking of going then.

Gutted to miss a good old 964 knees up at Spa. Have fun everyone.

Best,

Ben.

Have people in the south booked trains yet.....we are looking at booking in next couple of days, would be good to be on the same train as everyone else. OJB and I are driving (a car each), but will be with a couple others who I think are going to tow.

Hugh, some (Tony P and Andrew C) are using Harwich to Hook of Holland overnight because it means they only have a short journey to the ferry from Zandvoort on the Wednesday evening. Ferry is late enough to make it easy. However, I believe there was no more room for trailers on the crossings when Melv enquired.

OK - so nobody going across on the train dover way then? In which case we can book when we like [:D]

No worries, thought it worth asking.

Join Des and I!

Haven't booked anything yet either! Will watch with interest and maybe tag along ? At present i was considering leaving to get there for mid to late afternoon. Which puts crossing times at about 10 - 11 ish. Can't make up my mind on ferry or chunnel either. What was Norfolk line gets you into Dunkirk , knocking a small amount of the drive off. Chunnel quicker of course. Norfolk line lounge very nice etc etc etc.

I was thinking closer to 9am, to avoid the london traffic around the M25.... should get us there for early PM. I'm going canvas our party and will post back.

I'm out 11ish Sun I believe on ferry; Dunquerque makes little or no difference as it's only 15 mins drive from Calais and the xing takes longer!
Couldn't get on the Hook-Harwich overnight due trailer, so staying another night and driving down to Calais following day.
Tunnel a quicker option obviously, but ferry makes nice break.... you'll find me lunching in the bistro. [;)]

Once we get on the circuit, what's it like on brakes?

Obviously there are some high-speed braking areas but it's the gaps in between, or lack of, that get you. I'm back to pretty much stock set-up and was more than pleased with them at Oulton Park. Spa may well be very different.

Very few tracks are as hard on brakes az oulton. Spa has a couple of big stops but is not hard on brakes.

True - end of Kemmel straight and just before the new 'bustop' chicane will do it for big stops . Book an early session with the instructor Ian , as the lines are important if you are going to follow Gruppenfuhrer's advice on braking in general [;)]

Good advice John. A quick glance at the BAT website did not reveal how to book instruction, can it be left 'till the day or is that too risky?
