strip ing body

Ok so I stuck the endy in all the right orifices and guess what?
Reminds me of a song SOLID AS A ROCK looks like a copious amount of wax oil
every where and on the rear flitch and the back of the B pillars there is a goodly
amount of underseal. Then there is the same amount every where the 1st owner must have
spent a lot of money protecting the beast

Had a good nights sleep last night ,really worried that she was going to hit me between
the legs but life can be good some times.

Ah, forgot you have a rear spoiler! So just had a look at PET and it shows 10 x M6 pan head screws. 3 are shorter so take note where they come from.

I would say yes. There is no mention of any rivets just self tapping screws. I'm surprised at use of pop rivets on bodywork as they can work loose and spin caused by vibration. I think there is a gasket between the two sections. Seek more expert advice but I would just go ahead and drill out the rivets the reassemble using screws.

I still cant get the rear light clusters off because of 2 screws rotating are they expensive
or can they be obtained second hand?
Paul

Lenses or housings? The lenses are VERY expensive - aroind £90 each if I remember correctly. That's from Porsche and the independants aren't much cheaper. Even the Porsche parts are NOT Bosch units, they're pattern parts and not the same quality. I bought a pair of new old stock off ebay for £110, but I was very lucky.

DO NOT BREAK YOURS GETTING THEM OFF. Find a solution to the problem.

I have no experience of the housings but would guess they're cheaper and freely available 2nd hand.

If they will re-tighten without spinning then just drill the heads off. Remove clusters then you will have still enough of the screw protruding to hold with grips and pull while twisting out.

The problem with the screws was they were rotating in there fixings but bought 4inch mole grips
which just fitted up inside and gripped the back end of the screw allowing me to drill the heads
off. now Ive got to remove the back covers screws corroded ?
On a new tack I am going to write a book on reasons why not to refurb a car called DONT
My garage is filling up with body parts room is becoming a premium and is it really worth all the hassle?
Paul

Just think of the money you are saving Paul. When it's all done and dusted you'll look on the experience with affection!

Its 21 40 just eating at last instead of wasting money on chips strip the car remove 28yrs dirt and the power to weight ratio goes up
Paul

I took a look at Paul's car today and yes, I too can vouch for the fact that it's remarkably rot free. Considering the all year, daily driver usage regime, it's nothing short of remarkable.

Now, where are those gritting lorries? I fancy a drive!
