Sudden loss of oil pressure

Another stupid Q, but how do you get the sump off? Is it an engine-out job? I can't remember the layout under there but do recall that you can't simply unbolt it (as on most cars.)

Stripped the throttle body down and cleaned all the gunk off it last night, going to mask it up and paint it (either silver or gloss black).
Just dropped the inlet manifold off at the powder coaters, they'll clean it, blast it and powder coat it for me for Wednesday - £35 []
Gone for Signal Red (well it is the fastest colour) and when I do the cam tower that'll be gloss black with red lettering.

New pukka hydraulic engine mounts whilst youre in there?
Fully agree with Simon re mounts.....iirc the tolerance is 65-70mm uncompressed.....I checked mine the other day ( yes i am beginning to spend a little time back on the car) passenger side was 67mm.. drivers 60mm.. these had been replaced with genuine Porsche hydraulic mounts for the second time since ownership although I can't remember when. I will of course change the drivers side, undecided on the other side due to costs although when first changed when I purchased the car I only changed the drivers side... that was a mistake as the other side soon failed too, this time though i don't think they've that old so may only do the one side, final decision will depend on funds....thing is they both still look brand new...lol

I believe that the oil pickup pipes fracture as a result of vibration which will come from either worn mounts or a balance shaft issue.

..or bouncing over kerbs, or maybe reversing into armco at Spa? (I've got some nearly new engine mounts with my replacement engine)

And super-stiff suspension?
The mounts are £36 each from FrazerPart so I'll get them ordered and done anyway I think.
hmmm.. those are pattern parts.... I've only heard bad things about using non genuine engine mounts for the 944 so be warned they may not last very long..

MrsC not great - been off work since Jan and had 2 ops for her arm. Essentially sorted now but got a months recovery from the op. Disadvantage of being a doc is she knows exactly what's going on!
As for the kids, I thought I only had one but . . . . You never know
