Suspension & Brake refresh

Paul, [:D][:D] bloody awful ain't it! Simon, Gutted for you mate that is really bad luck, is that the same at Venom as well? Scott, Yes there are extra boots, the 2 in the bottom left of pic are for use on the rears if you decide not to install the springs with the shocks, but why you would do that seems strange to me.

Looks great Andy. One tip (and I may be stating the obvious?!) but would be worth smearing Vaseline or similar on the adjusting thread of the coil overs. If you want to adjust the height later you can find the threads are all rusty and cruddy. That said, I can't imagine your 944 ever getting that dirty! [:D]

I dont know, this was DC Performance. I spoke to Dan a few days ago and he said that he would ensure that Spaz honoured the offer if I ordered on the 31st, even if theyd gone home when I ordered and couldnt order from Spaz until the 2nd. It looks as though they increased the website prices before the offer actually expired, turned out the light and went home early...(

Cheers Andy, to be honest hadn't thought about that, but will do, although they look so nice they may just come under the cleaning regime [:D]

Just need to undo the Torsion bar nuts and set the trailing arm adjustment to it's lowest setting, I assume that is why this will not fit at present?

Tidy work Andy. I guess you're right on the trailing arm adjustment. I take it you will be getting a full geo setup done when you're finished? Do you have that Porsche socket for rear adjustment? (For rear toe from memory???) Its only about 6 quid from OPC. Part number is 000 721 917 10. When do you think she'll be back on the road?

Hi Andy, Yes full Geo on completion, I have not got that socket but that is just for the Geo though? Hopefully back on the road in 3 weeks, trouble is I only have the weekends as I get home too late during the week.

If the torsion bars are on their lowest setting I have been told you will need to re index the rear of the car.

Scott, yes you are right but my car is in factory set up so fingers crossed that I don't need a reindex as that will really set me back in time!!

Andy - just lift the trailing arm so that you can fit the bottom bolt. you might need a few goes to adjust the rear springs. ed

Yes Andy the socket is just for the geo, one of the rear adjustments only. The check should be free so no need to buy if it doesn't need adjusting. You're welcome to borrow mine if needed.

Ed, Do you mean the torsion bar spring? I have lifted and dropped the trailing arm as far as it will go, there is a jack under the arm in the photo is is lifted as high as it will go before it then lifts the car off the axle stand. Am I doing something wrong?

oops sorry Andy - I didnt see the jack when I looked at this quickly on my phone last night. yes, using the eccentrics makes sense. hope you have enough adjustment there... might be worth giving it a good soak in plus gas over this week

I think if you lower the rear of the car with the wheel on you will be able to get the bolt in, you just need to 'compress' the torsion bar spring. You can then worry about height adjustment on eccentrics later. The Spax kit looks good!

ORIGINAL: os951 What spring rates do you have (front/rear) ?
Hi Oli, Not sure will have to look at springs tonight when I get home, but at the moment they are loose and not compressed at all.

Cheers Tony, that has to be worth a go and yes I am happy with the way it is looking for the money they cost and if I am able to complete the fitting I will be a very happy!
