Great photos as ever, thx guys. Brief race report from my point of view. DONINGTON PARK -- JUNE 2012 Early morning rain came in some volume and with 45 minutes to qual, we settled for a wet setup. Sitting in the assembly area the rain had stopped, it rapidly got brighter, windier and warmer. Quali started and the track already had a 75% dry line!, a few minutes later it was fully dry ......... whoops. Car too soft, tyre pressures too high. Put in a few laps but then the tyres got too hot as expected. Came in and had to drop 6 - 8 psi per tyre, that takes time, then back out to see if I could improve. Ended up 3rd in Class behind Eacock and Koeberle, but Eacock was not going to have any further involvement as he had a bang with a slower car when exiting the Craner Curves. Race 1 in dry conditions. I had a space in front of me on the grid and got a good start. Soon settled into some consistent lappery and wondered where all my Class 2 rivals were? They were a few seconds behind me but battling for their own places, this inevitably slowed them down a bit and they never caught me. All I had to do was keep the pace up and stay away from errors -- the latter can be a big challenge. Job done, a class win. Race 2, also thankfully in dry conditions. This time I had space to my right in the row in front on the grid. Got a decent start and managed to ease to the right which is essential for the first corner at Redgate. Koeberle caught up a couple of laps later and took me down the finish straight in a good move, I was left thinking how to get past. A few laps later I saw my chance after The Old Hairpin and managed to squeeze through on the way up to MCleans. Battled most of the rest of the race with Harrisons Class 1 964, I just could not get passed, but Tim Speed was then catching me in his Class 2 968. A slow chicane for Harrison on the penultimate lap left me struggling for pace and I got taken by Speed on the finish straight with only 80 seconds left to pull it back ...... I had no answer and 2nd in Class 2 it was. A decent points haul for the 2 races, the car is going well and we now move onto Croft on Teeside for races 7 & 8 -- on July 21st

There were grid girls and I missed 'em - blast! After a 1st and 2nd, are you now top of the Class 2 table now Paul?

Steve -- apparently he went to a music festival, not sure which one! I guess SWMBO carries some influence .................................

OOo eerrr. Im liking the "family",, grid girls....[;)][:D][;)] Paul,as ive said before keep taking those go fast pills, there working....[:D][;)],, oh and well done .[:D][:D]

thought about keeping quiet about this BUT I have failed miserably!! the points have been updated after Donington, see here: [link=http://www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk/sites/default/files/files/03%20Porsche%20Club%20Championship%20Points%20after%20Donington%20Park%2030_06_12.pdf]Points after 6 races[/link]

Well done Paul - what a season! I guess the fact that 6 of the 1st 9 are 968's and that the first 4 are 968's says something about the regulation weights - although that takes nothing whatever away from you leading class 2 and the Championship. I hope you keep it up - well done again - it's all coming home this season! Baz

Barry - thx on the power to weight matter in Class 2, your earlier predictions are starting to be realised .......... and likewise for Class 1 the results are showing a trend as well, albeit not so pronounced yet. going back to the points ...... we must all remember that we have only done 6 of the 15 races which is 40% of the total BUT as the last 3 races have double points only 33% of the points have been distributed so far. So everything is still up for grabs, I for one will be pushing as hard as ever when we go to Croft on 21st July. I am not sure which cars go best at Croft but I have a feeling it is those that can drive the part from the Jim Clark Esses thru to Sunny In & Out at the greatest speed. Crack that and you have one quick lap - get them Boxsters flying ! NB some circuit info here: http://www.croftcircuit.co.uk/croft/circuit_information.html

Hope we will be flying Paul but are using the event to try some new suspension settings - might be great or crap - only time will tell. I can now see we needed more time before the season and more testing but the weather has made that almost a waste of time so far. Appreciate your usual thoughtful analysis about the points and of course 2 races can be dropped to add to the confusion. However - PCGB Champion would top all your efforts and aspirations - glas we don't really have any influence on your outcome so go for it mate. Baz

ISTR you had to drop 2 results. Its a great point Paul makes even though we are 3 weekends down and I have a big fat 0 points there are a lot of points yet to be gained. Mind you Combe and Silverstone are both tracks where the 968 advantage is at its biggest. It was terribly unlucky what happened to Alex this last weekend potentially he has another car but that one was supposed to be up for sale.

started my homework for Croft, this video gives a good idea of the circuit AND you get some very close driving! [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLC0CGYYuDY&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL45988CFBE285E318]Croft racing in an MX5[/link]
