Those are some really interesting observations Neil. I think the only thing missing from it is that our Mr F deserves a lot of credit for how quick he is driving and is now regularly mixing it with the class 1 cars. We saw something the same last year in the few races that Marcus drove where he was regularly out performing some of the class 1 machinery. And then at Silverstone at the end of year Chris D upped his game and drove brilliantly so that we had two class 2 944s mixing it with the Class 1 boys. So like last year, Paul is now showing how much difference the driver can make in the race. Well done that man! [] As an outside the barriers observer and keen follower I have to say that it now looks like an odd decision to have 968s eligible for both classes dependent on specification. In the right hands the 968 is too quick for the 944s and other class 2 cars but can't compete with the most powerful class 1 cars. Similarly, the 3.2 boxsters don't appear to be on the same level playing field with class 1 911s. Baz has already eloquently described in detail why this is. In practice, it is quite clear that if drivers as good as Ben and Marcus can't keep pace with the class 1 911s at most circuits, that no one can (I'm excluding the likes of Vettel, Hakkinen, et al [] ). My outside the ropes observations are that with the appropriate regulations there could easily be three classes now....which would go something like: Class 1 - 996, 993, 964 Class 2 - 3.2 boxster, 968, 3.2 carrera Class 3 - 944, 2.5/2.7 boxster, 911SC (and earlier) Just my thoughts on what is (as I suspected at the start) a fascinating season. []ORIGINAL: Neil Haughey Odd that still nothing is done about the 968 in the regs. Watching the vids of Lee (boxster S) trying to pass Paul F (968) at Oulton it is clear he could back him up in the corners so much that Lee didn't have a look in to getting pass on the straights. That just isn't right IMHO, no class 2 car should be able to back up class 1 cars like that, it just shows that if anything a class 2 968 is probably as quick or quicker than a class 1 boxster S.

ORIGINAL: MarkK Sorry about the restart, No need to be sorry Mark, this year for me was all about learning the tracks and gaining race experience so restarts and safety cars all ad to that (but the repair bill is a bummer)

No I do not think there are or Paul Seagrave would have had some penalties, I seemed to be behind him in both races. No complaints from me but I think they should be more consistant with the rule.ORIGINAL: spyderman Are there any cameras watching the runoff area just before Barcroft? They were really on it at Silverstone today, even in qual. Once this rule tweak comes in, I hope everyone will email the MSA when the touring car boys get away with it again... and again... and again...ORIGINAL: rsy944 No I do not think there are or Paul Seagrave would have had some penalties, I seemed to be behind him in both races.
