The 2012 PCGB Club Championship

Interesting video on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfvlgF06QNE&feature=youtu.be showing how fast the 996's are with the present weights - compared to some others. Baz

Must try and get a look at that footage, I know it is being repeated a few times on Motors TV. Before then here is a taster vid from Croft, used as an introduction to the Club Championship ....... Pete M and yours truly doing some stuff to camera! http://www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk/videos/club_championship/0712/short_taster_porsche_club_championship_croft_2012 have I got a future in film? go on flame me !!

and here is the info of the much longer video of our first visit to Oulton earlier in the year, being broadcast on MOTORS TV, set your video recorders! LAST LAP PORSCHE CLUB MOTORSPORT - OULTON PARK Exciting selected race series and championships from around the UK. It focuses on a number of different formulae and disciplines which bring adrenaline filled action to the screen. If and when you hang-up your racing gloves you may well have a future in tv Paul. Taster clip looks very dynamic.

Yes I am sure he doesn't look as tanned and have such shiny teeth in real life, the camera loves him. For me it would just crack [:D]. One can tell you have done that sort of thing before Paul [;)].

Great for the sport that TV exposure - good racing and interviews - all good for the Club and it's motor racing future - large grids - different models that the public can identify with mixing it at the front and a few off's to add the unknown factor we all hope doesn't happen but that does liven things up for spectators. Sorry to harp on about it - but I just thought it was interesting that we can now add the TV presenter to the growing list of public, Forum members and track commentators to those that were able to predict the discrepancy in the weighting of some models and warn how obvious the difference would be - at which circuits and by how much. It makes you think it would make a good TV advert - the engineer saying that some cars would be too light and dominate the races (before the season even - to the public watching at the races (or on video) then the commentators at the circuits and finally the TV presenter - all questioning the balast on the 996's and the Club Officials sat under the banner saying "you should have gone to specsavers". Perhaps we will soon see a change - more even racing and the officials wearing specs at last. Baz

Just another point of interest that one of the lads at work pointed out that a spoiler was seen going up and down on the TV (and was down when the driver had problems in a slow corner) - not allowed under the rules I think! I havn't seen it myself - will look tonight. Baz

Hey chaps. I wish all well on Saturday. I shant be there in body , but will be cheering you on in mind.. Looks like itl be a nice dry sunny day..[8D][8D]

It is raceday and looks like being dry and hot ......... testing yesterday was fine but there is always a sense that I should have gone a bit quicker! I got under 2 minutes but think I can find another second....... we'll see. We have a couple of the BRSCC Boxsters out with us AND all the Class 1 cars except the 996 have had a weight reduction to even out the performance a bit. ............ into battle we go.

Back home now, a long day starting with sign on soon after 07:00, a quali, 2 races, pack up and then a 2.5 hr drive home! ......... there are sides to racing that have a distinct lack of glamour. Well I got pole in Class 2 but Koeberle got me at the start of Race 1. Then some C1 cars engulfed me and I was battling with Alex Eacock for 2nd. That was a battle I lost and settled for 3rd in class. Alex eventually got first. In C1 Morris-996 beat Sumpter-964 for the honours. 2nd race at 16.55 Second race turned out a lot better, started in 9th behind a load of Class 1 cars but the chasing pack in Class 2 was a little further back on the grid, settled into some steady lappery without having to battle with anyone. Eacock & Koeberle were hunting me down but I managed to keep a decent distance ahead. That is the way it finished me, then Eacock & Koeberle. Sumpter won class one with Morris second.
