I dont want to put it on the car, looks absolutly lovely.
I am surprised how heavy it is, will have to try and fabricate some sort of bracket to support it, i am not sure about having something that heavy just clamped to the exhaust...
Oh I am not feeling too great, might have to be off work tomorrow!! [] Will resist till the weekend, give me a chance to get a uni joint for the 13mm socket.
Wow does it look good.
Just need to figure out how to sneak it into the house!!

Are they the type that allow the TiAL to run in dual port mode, with one pipe going to the top port, one to the side, and the third coming from the banjo on the intercooler pipe?
Excellent news Slim, sounds like a days sicky is in order []

Whatever do you mean, cough cough splutter!!![]

I assume so as they have 3 connections, 1 from the banjo bolt and I think one to each WG port , But I don't have a confirmation yet.

So how long do people think to do the swap. THe wastegate was off to fit the new exhaust about 2 months ago.
I have not pesonally taken it off, and will be working with the car on ramps at the front.
What tools do i need. I will not be doing this at home (no level driveway) so will have to take the appropriate tools with me.
Will go for it this Sunday(weather is looking good up here(for once!!)

I used the instructions at www.lindseyracing to get it off (see my pics on page 5 of this post)
Just attach everything loosely when you fit the new one and gradually tighten it all up.
You need a 10mm and 13mm socket to get the old one off and a 6mm allen socket to put the new on. A universal 'swivelley' adaptor and two 12" extension bars are really helpful to get at the two bolts that hold the WG to the torque tube and I also used a tiny 1/4" socket set to get at two of the 13mm bolts on the WG beacuse the standard 1/2" sockets were just too chunky
Don't forget to Zymol it first []
To get member status you have to e-mail sophia at club office with your name, membership number and I think login name. Stars are connected to number of postings.
Cheers,

I will be using the accuboost Andrew, so if there is any boost bleeding then it will be form tha of the hoses NOT the wasegate, as has been stated, it should stay clamped shut till the required pressure is applied. I went for the 0.9bar spring.

Sadly I took plenty of photographs but omitted to weigh it. As Slim said, there is a post on Rennlist stating that the TiAL with its adaptors is actually 6 oz lighter than the standard. The TiAL itself is VERY light. When all bolted in it seems very solid, I am not worried it has no bracket (but we shall see what happens [] )
I am thinking of getting an MBC to run dual port but Danno has stated to me previously that at our power levels it is better in single port, because the boost builds quicker, so I am just using the Reliaboost in single port. As for boost bleed I have tested to the redline in 4th gear and it held 15psi all the way. Strangely in 3rd gear it did start to bleed to about 13psi at just under 6000rpm. I think I will shortly be buying your vaccum kit and DV30 just in case this is causing it. I haven't tried in 5th [] my test track is too short. I haven't tried without the Reliaboost, I shall give it a go on Monday
If you wanted to fully test one of your MBC's in dual port on my TiAL you are welcome anytime.
I hope Goldtrack do have evening Silverstones this year but I am getting doubtful. I will call Melindi and see?
I also ordered one of the demon tweeks boost controllers I am not sure it is suitable or in fact how it is meant to work (didn't come with instructions) it has three ports into a chamber, the centre port can be closed / restricted by screwing in the knob.

Can anybody tell me why I only have 1 star and non member status
Andrew,
The more postings you make the more stars you get. Keep posting and you could become a five star anorak like me []
I'm not sure about the membership heading, I think I read that you have to e-mail head office with your membership number to get it changed, or something daft like that.

Mine does lean towards the back, and the engine side is at the bottom with the exit from the side.
You better check yours while you are doing it today Tony, and I'll await redfaced []
My earlier pics do look like the plates are fitted the same as yours
Anyway with the exhaust able to push it open (as delivered input on bottom) it makes sense to use the top port to hold it closed - I posted on rennlist this morning about combining an MBC and a reliaboost.
Tony
PS I will be plastering today so its not getting fitted just yet, I still have the mysterious oil leak to find as well []

I found a few threads on Rennlist all querying how to install a TiAL. This is the best one and has a number of pics of different peoples wastegates (yawn)
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122623&highlight=Tial+and+picture
The bottom of the TiAL does face the inlet (engine) and the side port is the exit down the exhaust. This is completely opposite to the standard WG and means it leans towards the rear of the car as opposed to the front like the standard one. I believe the bolts have different spacing so you can't install it incorrectly, but I can't exactly check that now - over to you guys with shiny wastegates in your hands
So this means that we were mistaken in our belief that exhaust pressure cannot open the valve prematurely. It can, because even though the TiAL valve opens inwards it makes no difference because it's mounted opposite

Great stuff i am fitting mine tomorrow...
Dont forget it will take alot more then 0.8 bar or whatever you spring is rated at to push open the valve as the surface area is much much smaller, about 1/4 atleast of the diaphragm. So it will take about 3.6-4bar to open it, and i doudt you will be able to get this much pressure anyway...
