Track Days

The attendees list looks good on the javelin site - all 944's [:D] Ewan - it will be good to see your car & see what JMG have done to it - don't you have to remove the rear konis to stiffen them though?

ORIGINAL: Pit garage is a good idea, if only to stash stuff & shelter from the icy wind. Maybe just 1 would be fine? I don't know how big they are. I was also wondering whether it might be an interesting idea to hire an instructor for the day? I was chatting to a racer / instructor acquaintance of mine this morning. He would only charge £250-300'ish for the whole day, and I guess we could each have several sessions (depending on how many were interested) - Thoughts? Instruction is good for everyone, and will get new track drivers round much faster, safer and with less wear & tear on cars.
Edd, That looks like a good deal £300 for the whole day, I would buy into that

Ed - the roads around here are shocking, and my car is very much road (not track) orientated. I live on a farm, surrounded by farms. Tractors are the preferred mode of transport here, and by that I mean a Massey Fergusson, not a "Chelsea Tractor" Cayenne. (Okay, I do have a supercharged Range Rover as well, but it's nice to drive through the mud in comfort from time to time.) All I want from the day is a bit of fun, a trip out in the 944 (it's done less than 1000 miles in the 2 years I've had it), and to put a few forum faces to names. So I shan't be bothering the rear suspension. Tony - fancy travelling up from Dorset as a very small convoy?!

Hi Ewan, I will almost definitely be towing the 944 up (coupe isn't insured, taxed or with mot), so you probably won't want to convoy given I will be going rather slowly. Tony Happy to chip on for garage, instructor.

I'll look into getting us a couple of garages reserved for us, ed could you find out if your instructor pal is willing and able to attend on the 25th? Edd

ORIGINAL: GPF We most certainly could Mate!
I'll be coming from Derby - maybe we could meet at Leicester Forest East? Graham - one suggestion for noise reduction [link]http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p1576/MERLIN-MILD-STEEL-RACING-MUFFLER/product_info.html[/link] Worked well on my Honda - I think a 5dB reduction on the static test. I still have one but it's for a 2.5" tailpipe I think so no use for you I would have thought.
Hi Ed, thanks for the link :) I have twin tailpipes though so I'm not sure those will fit - worth investigation though. As for meeting up, I'm not sure we would go down the M1 at all but I'm sure we can arrange to meet up somewhere.

I might join you, depending on which route you're taking, as I'm close to the A34 in Hampshire. Maybe Sutton Scotney services? Phil

This trackday is going to be great,I will enjoy standing on the pitwall never mind the driving!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is a success, perhaps we should make it an annual or bi-annual event? Visiting different tracks to accommodate members (and non) in different parts of the country. Edd

Hi All, Wish I could join you all but I won't be in the UK at that time. My BMW 330i M-Sport is quite handy round Bedford (I was there in Oct). You will all have an awesome day. Regards, Andrew

Not quite definite yet but I am a definite maybe for this [:D]. Car hasn't been near a track this year and am suffering withdrawal symptoms. I have also been having stupid thoughts of getting rid. I know those thoughts will evaporate if I get back on track. Will hopefully confirm in the next day or so.
