what did you do to your 944 today

I've been using Corrosion Block. Comes in a handy aerosol and can be sprayed about in any weather conditions as it displaces water rather than shield the metal. It is widely used in marine applications and can be had from Dennis at the Rust Stop Shop. Needs re-applied every 2 years in hidden box sections and 6 monthly on exposed sections like wing bottoms. It also totally transformed my rusting nickel plated GAZ shocks which now gleam and no longer corrode. Impressive stuff and dead easy to fling about. Regards Stuart
 
Well all this talk about sills and protection I thought I had better check mine before winter sets in, the car has been sitting for nearly two years on the drive so I feared the worse. I was right to be concerned as the drivers inner seal needs work, I can't tell how bad as I have limited access due to where the car is parked but the inner seal section close to where the vent is needs replacing. I guess I have more work to do now than just on mechanicals, the other side seems ok, mind you I had a new seal fitted on that side some years back so it should be ok. The outer sills seem in good shape, I'll see if I can get my bodywork guy to pay a visit to see what he advises, it will certainly need to go to his workshop, this I can arrange myself since one of my boys owns a car trailer. I had hoped that I didn't need to be concerned with bodywork until after the mechanicals had been sorted but now my hand is forced to look at this, it certainly wouldn't go through an MOT like this. If it turns out to be worse than I can see I guess I'll need to look into a complete restoration which was on the agenda ( i wanted to replace the front apron and get a respray) but not for some time into the future, I have no money for this so may need some lucky numbers on the lottery...lol I'll update when I know more Pete
 
I actually dug my Silver Rose out for assessment on getting ready for a trip to Germany next year. Was pleased with how little work will need done. 2 new sills, 2 replacement front wings, overhauled brakes all round, replacement ABS pump and all brake lines to it, engine front end service and a respray! Not much to do, it started after a few turns on the key after sitting for about 5 months. Will get started on it next week, will strip some parts off tomorrow for powdercoating and make a comprehensive list! Alasdair
 
I got out my 968 Club Sport rear seat, and seriously considered fitting it. Ive bought a tin of spray glue in readiness, but all of the sticky gloop alreasy on it from the 968 had put me off for now. What, if anything, can I use to dissolve it, without affecting the carpet? This has to more aggressive than WD40...
 
Get on with it all............nice one, i will require belt change before trip to Deutschland and oil change to be done at yours !
 
Is it an NA (Mk1) that you have? What do you have planned for it?
Its a 1992 Eunos Mk1 1600 N/A - £300 with a hard top [;)] Nothing spectacular (unfortunately) as the wife loves it and has adopted it. So much so that her lease car deal just ran out and she`s got rid of her Aygo and now she`s driving it daily!! I was going to tidy it up and strip it out - 4 branch/decent exhaust/wider tyres/bigger brakes/roll cage/sports seats/harnesses/track it etc etc Now I will mostly be stripping the suspension and painting and re-bushing it, replace brake and fuel lines if required, touch up what little rust there is, underseal it, inject all cavities, 1.8L front brakes (she also thinks the brakes are underpowered) and arch spats with a new more aggressive front end (her request) and a re-spray. She wants it to look like the one below but in silver. Got a problem with it at the moment though - I cant sort the idle even by bypassing the ECU so there`s something to do for the weekend.

Replaced the temporary cone filter (which I had installed after I discovered the wire mesh on the previous owners installed Green Cotton cone Filter had virtually disintegrated) with a factory airbox purchased from Nicksonmotorsports (cleaned up nicely after a bit of elbow grease) so she's back to standard (which I like). Also took the opportunity to clean up the drivers window switch which had been temperamental - unfortunately I broke the plastic surround on the drivers side so if anyone has one going spare let me know.
 
Yesterday; removed the front wheels and arch liners, brushed all the crud out of the wing bottoms (looked like small bits of gravel) and sprayed a goodly coating of Dynax S60 (or whatever it's called) rust wax in there. I should have done it when I did the sills a couple of weeks ago but didn't, for some reason. Noticed (with pleasure) that the O/S rear light seems not to have leaked in the recent rain and that the engine oil level hasn't dropped. Both satisfying as both of them were leaking recently (but both may yet start leaking again!) Oli.
 
Today I broke the heater knob, replaced the clock bulb and pulled the sunroof apart to fix its various problems. Anyway working clock

Put my Black Turbo on Trickle charge,remarked to myself how much it needs a wash it's looking dusty!!

I need to do mine Scott, is it hard/fiddly to do?
I guessed that may be the biggest pain. Is it just a standard bulb to get from Halfrauds and the like or Porsche specific?

I finally got around to changing the cam box gasket after having had one for two years; found that the cork gasket at the back of the box really needs to be replaced (if only Porsche West London had been interested enough to answer the phone or return my call). Once I remembered that it wasn't starting because I hadn't reconnected the king lead, it was running pretty lumpy (sounds like a tractor) - I guess I've hooked it back up a tooth out? Neil

50p from our local friends Andy. It's easy enough done. You just need to be careful.
 
Drove it another 80 miles to continue my running in. Done 380 miles now, starting to let the boost creep up a little now in small doses, infectious!! Touched 16 psi for a little bit, haven't smiled as much for a while. Going to wait till done at least 500 miles before I attach the pedal to the floor and enjoy 18psi again! Had one minor issue with a vac hose popping off, one tie wrap later all was good. Stuart
 
Scam, get some nice new shiny hoseclips the crimp type for those vac hoses, fitted an AEM Digital boost gauge to my car today , only showing 13 psi on WOT so a quick check that i have no kinks in the vac hose which is directly off the manifold and a wee tweak is in order (read turn boost up to 17 psi) nice bit of kit but would have been nicer with a bigger digital readout compared to my innovate AFR gauge which has nice big digits. Sitting on axle stands now with the handbrake getting adjustment tomorrow, whilst in there i will be gunking and pressure washing the gearbox/diff. Stu, you coming to Deutschland in May ?
