what did you do to your 944 today

ORIGINAL: colin944 The blob is a big blob of the under-seal that they put on the floor .It has squeezed in through the drain hole in the sill.
Thanks for that Colin, I can sleep better tonight [:)]

ORIGINAL: zcacogp I took part in the "Let's All Photograph Our Sills" game. Very grubby, but the Dynax S50 that I use is dark brown in colour which explains it. (And I have applied it thickly each year for the last four years). Doesn't look like anything to worry about in there, which I am pleased about. Oli.
Looks solid in there Oli, I intend to keep doing mine over the coming years to hopefully keep the tin worm at bay. What did you use to get right to the back corners of the sill?

All part of the service Martin.........[:D] Oli love the rust protection you've got in there. The thing is though........ Do you think you got enough in????[:D][:D]

I'm not going to post my sill pictures! They are not about to fall to bits but I know they are bodged and in need of replacement. Someone has welded a patch over the driver side sill over the top of the rusty metal and then just gobbed loads of filler on. It looked OK until a few months ago and now it's starting to blister through... now I have the car mechanically sound the bodywork is creeping up the TODO list. I heard replacements are NLA from Porsche (both sides?) so I suppose I will have to patch them... [:(]

Just on back order at the mo. If you order a pair maybe yours will be the ones to make them start a run. Or you can get them from Auto Atlanta in the US of A....

Went to the DVLA to put my personal plate on only to find I had stupidly forgot about the rule of personal plates cant make your car look younger and mine starts with a K so it shall remain retained (even got OPC Exeter to make me some plates in anticipation [:(] ) though dads looking at 996's so may put them on it he gets one until I can afford a 2nd car. My door speaker cover came of the other day and showed me a terrible looking original speaker. I had planned to change them this summer but looking at the state of them thought i'd do it sooner than later. Got the speakers yesterday and fitted them today such an improvement in quality, may even be brave and attempt the rears this summer :s Old VS New;

grrr cant work out how to add attach a photo now with photobuckets stupid new layout and hyperlink format [] figured it but got to be an easier way like it used to be than going through the share a photolinks bit to get the correct hyperlink?

Your original speakers are not only knackered but are paper cones with no separate tweeter [:-] I bet it sounds 1000% better now with some decent speakers fitted [:)]

Have you got details of the speakers? When my door cards were off for the respray I got a bit of a shock to see what was under the covers! [&o]

They really are 1000% better really makes me want to change the rear, though looking at it it looks like a terrible task I'd balls up. No worries what details would you like Paul? the model number and such? Paul these are the speakers I've put in and the cheapest I could find them (with standard postage comes to £50 and came within two days) other than some random shop on ebay selling all sorts of random stock; http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-ts-a4613i_p-26817.htm They fitted straight in my car though I don't have the "waffle" cover I have the later grill, though from research these should still easily fit behind the "waffle" cover if thats what you have. I did have to pull of the original small spade connectors on each side (didn't cut the wires) then chocolate blocked the small spade connectors provided on as the the standard wires were just a little to short, though the larger of the spade connectors don't need lengthening or adapting. then it was a case of just re-attach the speaker to the door. Quality is excellent imo but then i'm not an audiophile, and I personally love pioneer and don't buy much else (especially not Sony).

Fitted some new Bosch super plus wipers £11 for the pair off eBay two minute job and arrived in less than 24hours. Just need to find one for the rear now, funny thing was the guy selling them asked me what model Ford Maverick I had to confirm that 19S & 19 would fit should have seen his response when I told him it was the 944S2 type of Maverick.

It does look solid, although I remain paranoid about it! I use the application tube and nozzle that came with the aerosol can of Dynax S50 and poked it both ways down the sill. There is a large black plastic plug in the back end of the sill (in the wheelarch) which can be pulled out to give good access to the back of it and I think I prodded the nozzle down to the front through one of the holes in the inner sill (pulling the carpet away to get to it.)

Stop it, you'll only make me more paranoid! >ContemplatesSprayingSomeMoreInThisAfternoonJustInCase< [>:] Oli.

The lower pic doesn't look too healthy [&:] What are the rusty metal chunks at the bottom? And is that a hole on the right near the camera? The sill in the upper pic could do with some dinitrol or similar but doesn't look too bad to me. <Makes note to go and peer into his sills this weekend - they were rust proofed last year, but is that recent enough, and was it thick enough?!>

Personal opinion? Stick some anti-rust into both of them and keep your fingers crossed. You'll know you need to do something about it when the MOT inspector's finger disappears inside one. Oli.

Fixed the clock that MarkK kindly sent me and sorted out some dodgy wiring so I now have a working (and illuminating) clock :)

Thanks again Mark, especially as the clock's from a Turbo S as the car is so original and unmolested ;)

Drove mine to Hillcrest Specialist Cars in Nettlebed for mot. 1058 miles since Feb 2012. Failed on windscreen wiperblade. Hardly used in the wet. Blades replaced mot passed. Four weeks to Bedford, woohoo!

LED bulbs in the sidelights and did the 'stay down on dip' mod. I'll live with them for while. Not too chav?
