and most worring creaks in the torque tube []

these are definite cracks but do not go though to the other side .....does it need changing?
My torque tube broke/cracked at the gearbox end, not heard of any others though. Maybe drill small holes at the end of the cracks to stop them spreading.

I've googled this cracking seem to be a few in the states.......I'm guessing if the gearbox mount is shot then this is absorbing all the impact

ORIGINAL: Frenchy Will, where did you source your LED's for the dash job ?

Also finished off fitting the headlining and putting the other rear quarter light back in as well as some other little jobs such as putting new Numberplates on and applying for a tax disc.

That died carpet looks spot on man!
ORIGINAL: Diver944 Will are they the dimmable ones?
They do dim a little, it is noticeable but not as dim as the original bulbs go. though I have them on full brightness and I think they are prefect like that.

first drive in the 944 today after having fitted new ball joints and front anti roll bar bushes plus a new fuel filter. all i can say is wow i cant believe how reponsive the steering is oooomph what a great drive!! cant wait to have loads more. only downside my light dimmer switch burnt out so no dash lights Dave

Drove my black turbo today to school pickup,so quiet and spools up so quickly,I showed my 11 year old my audio tape collection in the arm rest and invited him to learn how this non digital music medium worked,he looked at it like is was an ancient relic from a lost world.

Got asked by an old man in the petrol station earlier if I brought my car new. It's only just dawned on me to buy that car new and drive it I would have to be a minimum of 41 years old (The cars 24). This can only mean one of a few things I am looking really freaking old (I'm only 22), the car is looking a lot better than even I thought or that man is should not be driving.

Cool, you the only other person I know who still keeps tapes in the centre console, although mine are purely for show as none of them work anymore. Edd

I occasionally get the odd warped CD/DVD at work. Makes the whole computer/laptop shake and sounds as though it wants to take off!!

Took the car to Center Gravity yesterday for complete chassis tune. Car had already been setup by Promax, once after they fitted the kw and once again after fitting my refurbed rack. However, after fitting the 17 wheels I found the car quite skittish over B roads and suffering from tramlining. I also wanted to try the kw on some fast road settings so that they were a bit more compliant for our roads. I'm really impressed with the work they have done, I spent a total of 9 hours with Chris and Pete working on the car, discussing the theory's behind good chassis setup, etc. Chris took me out for a test drive both before and after to find out how the car behaved and how it had been improved. I must say Chris has now got it spot on to how I wanted it, the car feels much better as a result, rather than an old car with new (and hard) suspension it now feels much more like a modern car to drive. Chris has dialled out some the toe and rear camber and the result is a much more balanced car with nice crisp turn-in, and 4 wheel drift on the limit. Also ride height was adjusted at the front as it was sitting lower than the rear and not level as prescribed by Porsche. Attention to detail was impressive as even the weight of the driver was accounted for and ride height adjusted on off-side to account for it. I have to say I wasnt expecting massive changes as the car was setup by promax last year but I have been pleasantly suprised just by how good it now feels. It rides smoother with less tyre noise and even seems to roll easier (which I assume was a result of there being too much toe-in both front and rear before), car even feels quicker tbo. I imagine tyre wear and mpg will also improve. I have pdf of the work carried out if people are interested? Here is the car being corner weighted - was a total of 1388KG with 75kg of driver ballast and half tank fuel.

I'm a bit annoyed that Chris found play in my recently refurbed steering rack, looks like I may have to take this up with the company that did it. Edd

Very interested in the geo settings Ed. I'm not altogether sure that a bit nose down is all that bad.... Car looks good with those wheels. Good to hear it was a successful visit - although I hope you have managed to dial out the "confirmation bias" in your assessment of the new setup [:D] You must have been pushing it a bit to get a "drift" on the road if it was dry. Did they find anything else apart from the steering rack? From what I read, he's extremely meticulous.

Here is the [link=http://www.filedropper.com/mergeddocument-3]pdf[/link]. Chris suggests that nose down can reduce braking efficiency under hard braking, although nose down maybe more desirable for the track? I hope theres no confirmation bias [:D], I can see why he comes well recommended... Chris was driving round tight roundabout and it was damp and cold, ad08's did surprisingly well even in those conditions though. Other issues were transmission mount needs replacing as do front arb bushes (he didnt have any in stock), so not too bad overall. In regards to the settings, for a track car I think they would be different, Chris says that the Ad08's do work very well on track with about 2Ëš neg camber but that this compromises braking and stability on the road. Porsche specs are zero camber, so we have compromised a little with 1Ëš camber for my car. The last page on the pdf shows the performance of the dampers which should be 0.3, as they are. Definitely recommended if you ever get the opportunity Ed. Edd Note: I think the (after) rear rebound is wrong on that print out (partly my fault), is says 1.25 turns but I think it was factory +25% (whatever that is). Promax had the rear rebound up quite hard (3/4 turn only) compared to the rest of the settings which were pretty much as factory.

ORIGINAL: 944 man 75 kilogrammes of driver ballast? What about the 35 kilogrammes of driver???
Well I try to look after myself.[:)] Edd
Sorry, I have editied that to make it make sense. It isnt so much that I am fat, but I am quite big (and a little stodgy). [:D]
