what did you do to your 944 today

Made a copper gasket today for the new larger turbo outlet pipe plus fitted the new plastic fuel pipe clamps underneath the car, oh and plumbed in the vacuum line. Then I got too cold so came in for a brew and a biscuit!

Put my driver's seat and harness back in, put the new tax disc on the new windscreen and drove it out of the garage to change the passenger side wheels.

Headlights need realigning a bit and then a damn good clean and put my wing decal back on, passenger seat in, etc, etc:

Haha, thanks. It's absolutely filthy but comes up well, I think the headlight washer delete really finishes the front end. Still plenty to do, as you can see from this picture:

I have a bridge spoiler hatch to fit too, picked up the hockey sticks, hoop spoiler and lower trim from the Paintshop today, now need some suggestions for bulletproof epoxy to hold the hockey sticks on: Dusty as hell but will look amazing after a machine polish and when fitted:

Had a new fuel pump fitted and took the car to Evotune in Durham today to be set up on their dyno. Stage 1 Promax has been fitted and I'm pleased with the results [:)] 291.8 bhp @ Flywheel 240.5 bhp at wheels 300 lb ft torque at 4600 rpm Boost set at 1.1 bar for safety Drove home over the A69 to Carlisle and the difference is amazing with so much more power low down and no need to change down for overtaking or accelerating and also keeping the revs in between 2500-4500 keeps it singing along at a decent pace [:D]

Had I known Martin, I'd have popped down for a look-see. I'm only 5 mins up the A1 from the A69 turnoff!

Took my 944S for the dreaded 'M' word (MOT) [] It failed ...... on a loose door mirror!?! [&:] Soon fixed by my super friendly 944 specialist garage (RSCars) and passed with advisorys of rear tyres near limit and rear brake pipes showing some signs of corrosion. What a great car [:)]

Drove 50 miles through the city centre and remembered how not suited to city driving the Turbo is... Made worse by the gear levers reluctance to travel through the gate, too.

Was going to post up that I was going today but only made the decision this morning due to the snow and salt on he roads yesterday!!

Car looks awesome and will look awesome once the spoiler is on. You considered tiger seal to fit it? The stuff is pretty damn awesome for attaching stuff.

Dave, Make sure you get the decal on in the correct place, if it is a OEM one then you are okay as the backing paper follows the shape of the wing.

Frenchy: the concours brigade will have a heart attack before they even get to the decal. It's an aftermarket one from fleabay so near enough will be good enough ;)

ORIGINAL: Frankie5bellies [;)] Thought I would attend to that darn hatch catch rattle that is so annoying! WD40'd it and got rid of some hardened old grease. The half moons seemed to move nice and easy with the key. Tightened catch quarter turn for a number of turns - then cut a rubber grommet from a cycle inner tube as suggested elsewhere - test drives for a number of times over a really testing bit of road - and there it goes again!![] Thought -- ok lets go the other way - seems like a good idea so I slackened off the catch striker a few quarter turns at a time - and -- no difference - sharp bump and click click click -- diasbolical.. [:(] Decided to call it a day and have lunch.. wonder if a dollop of grease would help ? or have I just proved that the catch mechanism is B xx ed and need renewing?? anyone got any comments?
Turn the radio up?

Went to the Cayman launch on Thursday night so it seemed a good excuse to finish fastening the car back together and giving it a run out. After the new screen I needed to put the a-pillar trims and sun visor trim back in. Finished off the headlining I got from Alasdair perfectly:

Then had to remove the poorly-DIYed plexiglass window and the manual mechanism to refit the electric one and the proper glass:

Put the passenger seat and harness back in and fitted the door card, it rattles a bit so when I take it off to fit the RS door pulls I'll put some sound deadening foam behind it.

Next up was the "PORSCHE" script on the rear had to be replaced to join the turbo badge I'd already replaced. Car had the sills and wing bottoms done previously along with a respray and none of the badges had been put back:

And finally the headlights weren't quite level at rest so a bit of googling took me to a TIPEC post where Alasdair had pointed someone in the direction of the lifter bar to chassis bolts, 10 mins fiddling later and they were perfect:

Still a reasonable list of things I want to do but my god the old girl absolutely flys along. One of the salesmen at Newcastle OPC told me that he was amused at how many people walked towards the red 997 GT3 parked outside the dealership and then straight past it to have a nose around my car.

Spent 90 minutes trying to chase the increasingly-eccentric behaviour of my central locking. Discovered that the plug in the control unit was three-quarters out and fewer and fewer pins were making the necessary connections ... [8|]

Care to post a link to that post? Thanks. Oli.

After offering to measure the centre bore on Momo steering wheels, I have spent the evening sorting out a box full of wheels (6) hubs (3) and horn-pushes (5) along with many sets of mounting screws and rings. Im tempted to fit a Momo to my car again, but I cant make my mind up which. I have a brand new red leather, black annodised Monte Carlo, which is period but it makes me drive too quickly and its a little too red. Next favourite is a Race which is off centre, giving an extra 1" of leg room, with black leather and a red anodised centre. The centre bore sizes were 'old' (1986 Prototipo) 51.35mm and new 55.25mm (average over four wheels inc 1989 Monete Carlo). Horn pushes still seem to be made to suit the original 51mm centre bore, which causes a good deal of confusion and they nned to be mounted in a ring on a 55mm bore wheel.
