what did you do to your 944 today

ORIGINAL: Veerzigzag
Finally fitted my New Old Stock VDO Dayton MS4150RS CD/Tuner with Sat Nav. I got this off a seller on eBay for £95 and he has more if anyone is interested.
Martin RS2K, many thanks for this link - this looks very much in keeping with the dash style. Previous owner fitted a bling Pioneer unit to mine, so one of these nicely-priced units will be in there shortly.
Just spoke to Steve and he still has some of the MS4150RS in stock (all new stock) with Amber or Green display (mine is Amber) Give him a call on 07703 530000 and say your Porsche Owners [:)]

ORIGINAL: 944 man Are these the cheaper single tuner version Martin? What sort of price?
Never asked the price but work on £95 a unit or go for te twin tuner version bt these have a slightly different display. Personally I like the 4150 better [:)]

Mats have arrived! Dead chuffed with them! :)

I got them from: http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/ I saw a set in Glenn's car when he took me to the Ace cafe and loved them so got a set. Just specify what you want then they make them :)

Tried in vane to press the torsion bar carrier bushes into the Ali brackets with NO luck[:(] Anyone have any tips, they are OEM bushes

Never done it but is one side of the hole tapered and one square? If so the tapered side is the side you introduce the bush from. I always use rubber grease as a lubricant inside the bush carrier

I've not long done mine I used a bowl of hot soapy water some fairy up liquid A threaded bar 2 square washers and 2 bolts was all pushed in within half hour

Cheers Darryl, I've seen them recommended before. Really do look a superb fit. It doesn't look like they do them in Burgundy though, pitty [:(]

No problems! Fire them an e-mail, the guy is pretty decent and might be able to sort something out for you [:)]

Not today but yesterday - failed my MOT :( Luckily I always drop it in a month early just to be sure. Handbrake efficiency was too low (I could have told them that but didn't have the time to sort it so dropped it in anyway) The tester even had a look to see if be could nip up the nut on the mechanism as it was just on the pass/fail limit but in doing so he borked the micro switch so the dash light's now on FFS!!! He did apologise and said when he does the partial retest he will ignore the dash bulb if I haven't fixed it yet. Everything else was fine, a bit of an oil weep on the gearbox and engine pointed out to me but nothing I didn't already know about.

Not today but tomorrow belts on my Turbo S then Mike Moore's car will also get the same (89 250 Turbo) Saturday should see my 220 getting the same treatment, a couple of Porsche fettling days ahead.

I might come and play

Sorted the handbrake out tonight, need to tackle the switch in the morning. Also decided to chase the coolant leak which I guessed might be coming from the fan switch in the radiator as I had this leak on my 2.7. I was right in that it is, but it looks a real pig to access - to get to it it looks like you have to remove the fans but part of the oil cooler hose seems to be in the way. Anyone removed it without removing everything else?

As usual not as planned, Turbo S finally in bits ready to go back together with new belts which will happen tomorrow, had to make a puller to get the bottom balance belt pulley off, all tensioners and rollers are fine though so no need to change. The bloody heatshield on the starter motor was also an awkward bugger, everything will get a coating of zinc anti seize when going back together. Was planning on 2 days Porsche fettling may be 3 but at least both cars will have new belts for the foreseeable future and not to do again for 4 years [:D] Chillin with a chilli con carne and a bottle of red [;)]
