what did you do to your 944 today

ORIGINAL: kcbart Hi Will, Yes, the sidelights have to be on and then the light works when you open the bonnet. Also works if you have the offside parking lights on i.e. the indicator stalk up, but not down.
Does the ignition need to be on as well - I have a vague recollection it does! Tony

Went for a spin - and paused for a pic [8D]

Yes it is lovely and no not wanting, having to :( Will be a MK2 Golf not MK3 to replace it which frees up the cash I need to. That said I was very tempted to buy back the MK3 Golf VR6 that I sold to my brother but that went this week. Such a nice engine - but you're right Colin - it was starting to rust badly! lol

Started to look for new cams and valves or complete head following my cam chain guide disaster!! Looks like the MOT will have to wait [;)]

See my reply in you disaster thread. Got in my 944 to give it it's monthly run. Opened the garage and it started on the button. Lowered the roof and had a lovely drive with the sun beating down.

I did something very simple to mine yesterday ... polished the steering wheel with some shoe polish. It's a slightly worn Momo aftermarket wheel, which was looking a bit scrappy with some slightly rough bits on it. I rubbed some black shoe polish into it with a soft cloth and polished it off, and it's made the wheel a whole load nicer to hold! Smoother, more regular in feel and the leather is slightly softer. A great improvement! Oli.

Got mine back from oil, filter and coolant change, cure oil leak, sort slight engine vibration, and MOT with no advisories [:D] Pleased and slightly surprised with no cat that CO was 0.422% (max 3.50%) and HC's were only 86 ppm (max 1200 ppm)

Looked at mine longingly when I got home tonight, reminiscing still from the hoon to Brighton and back - reminds me why we buy these cars in the first place! Having 'distanced' myself from mine recently due to having to sell it, I found some new love for the turbo. Damn! Oh well, if it has to go I will be buying another when circumstances allow [:)]

As mentioned, after doing lots of this at Croft:

My brakes (which were getting a bit tired anyway) were shot so I pulled everything off for a bit of a clean and a paint and fitted some new Pagid discs (£105 delivered from CarParts4Less) and some Mintex M1144 pads (also £105 delivered from Motorsport World): Before:

After (Yes I know it's the other side but I'd already put the driver's side wheel back on before I remembered to get a picture):

I also added the first of (hopefully) several badges of honour:

ORIGINAL: Frenchy Could of painted the calipers Dave ! [:D]
I am going to get them powdercoated but ill wait until the winter - cant be having the car off the road for the summer ;)

Fitted an original gearstick to replace the rattley aftermarket one and also put a new gaiter on too. Went to put the aluminium gearknob insert in and couldn't find it anywhere. My darling 5 year old told me that she'd looked at it and then put it back but couldn't remember where - aaargh! Just been for a quick scoot to a weighbridge round the corner from me and the car is 1300kg dead on (to the nearest 10kg so could be 1291-1300). That gives me a nice 237bhp per tonne. Nowhere near the 580bhp per tonne of my mate's supercharged Ariel Atom though!
