what did you do to your 944 today

Busy few days decided to keep the S2 and so I have fitted new steering uj shaft , new transmission mount , new driveshafts and changed fuel filter while at it. What a transformation - absolutely brilliant , has done 177k miles so was ready for these parts renewing but some difficult bolts etc had to be cut off but not suprising really. Also put back on the origional decat section of the exhaust - too noisey for me with straight through pipe. Nick [:D]

Spent some time cleaning the engine bay then took it out for a blast through surrey hills

Took it to the poles for a good wash then took the roof out and went for a nice long drive to Glastonbury and back.

Refitted the front pulley and crank bolt to the Turbo S, New oil Fuchs Titan R 10/40 Semi Synth fitted, fired it up and full oil pressure and no nasty noises, washed and waxed a quick run around the block and swapped garages with the 220. Washed and new wheels fitted, pics to follow [:D]

Been doing a few jobs: Both control arms removed last Wednesday night, stripped and sent for shot blasting and powder coating on Thurs. Collected Fri morning and new ball joints, front & rear bushes fitted. Back on car yesterday with new shiny nuts and bolts [;)][;)] Also, ARB removed and stripped, front drop brackets re-painted, front bush clamps powdercoated and rear bush housings cleaned. Replaced rear camshaft housing gasket. Oil & filter changed. Remaining bits of bonnet sound proofing removed. Rattle when in reverse sorted. Just antifreeze change and slight bind on rear brakes to sort [:D]

Got my valuation certificate back from the club. Fell off my chair (in a good way) at the number. Fantastic service and well worth the membership fee on it's own (Classicline wanted a £25 fee and I suspect would arrive at a more conservative figure). I sent off about 12 photos, photocopy of the OPC history (only until 2009) and a detailed spreadsheet record of all the work I had done. I was very pleased to see that even my DIY work counts as 'Excellent service history'. So DIY'ers, if you know what you're doing and keep good records, you don't devalue your car (in the eyes of the club, at least!).

The plastic trim that covers the heater blower under the bonnet on my S2 had a couple of minor cracks , I checked with OPC to find this part was available but had been revised three times, at around £54 I decided to take the gamble and order one.
The double sided tape seal on a good plastic cover is a huge preventative measure for water leaks in a 944 in my experience George 944t

believe it or not ,, i been driving nearly everyday for the last 2 weeks and shes driving so well,,so very true the more our cars are driven the better they perform,,cheers jason p

Decided to do the same thing and get rid of excess mastic, what a can of worms!! Just ordered all the replacement screws and washers, some adhesive to fit the fixings back to the hockey stick and some small clamps to help with that!! Will take a few days but ail be satisfying knowing it's done properly.
ORIGINAL: chrismanchr I fixed my flapping around bridge spoiler that was only held in with one screw and glued and clmaped all the tangs back on the hockey style rear hatch trim ,back together very satisfying

Nice job, mine's got a few splits in so good to know they are still available. Nice clean engine bay there, would like to get mine a bit cleaner, any tips? Cheers.
ORIGINAL: PAUL RUDDY The plastic trim that covers the heater blower under the bonnet on my S2 had a couple of minor cracks , I checked with OPC to find this part was available but had been revised three times, at around £54 I decided to take the gamble and order one. Picked the part up at Kendal OPC yesterday and initial thoughts were that it seemed of a thicker and better quality plastic, apart from that it seemed the same. This morning I removed the old part, necessitating the removal over the wiper arms, the plastic trim itself is held in place with double sided tape ( which comes applied to the new part), at the front edge the trim sits under the rubber bulkhead seal. With the old part removed and the old tape removed from below the screen I offered up the new part, it became obvious the new one needed to be trimmed with scissors near the drivers side wiper, not difficult at all. Now I was sure it was going to fit I took the time to thoroughly clean the area around the blower, a few leaves were removed and the wiper linkage was greased, any visible wiring was cleaned and lubed with penetrating oil. The area where the double sided tape bonds below the screen I cleaned with a quick wipe of degreaser to ensure a secure bond, then fitted the new trim and refitted the wipers. All in about an hours work and well worth removing this part to give the area underneath a good clean. Cheers, Paul Old part removed and area cleaned

Followed Martin's lead and went to Evotune in Durham to get my car set up on their dyno after installing my Promax level 2 kit:

After a bit of dialling in the MBC we ended up at 308.4bhp and 313 lbsft of torque in 4th gear with no signs of running lean (AFRs stayed under 12).

That'll do me for now, should be fun on track at Croft on Saturday. I plan to drop in at a local weighbridge too, see how the diet (me and car) has gone :)

Yes, it'll do "for now" Put into perspective by the owner of Evotune who has a 700bhp GTR and is about to pull the engine out to fit £18ks worth of goodies to the whole car that'll see him OVER 1000bhp!!! eek
