what did you do to your 944 today

Ive spent half of the day scouring eBay looking for a Fischer CBox DIN mounting CD holder. When I had one there were several for sale with one in America selling for £4 - now that the post man has lost mine they have immediately become a rare as rocking horse s***e! The most frustrating part is seeing that Fischer make them as an OEM supplier to several car manufacturers (fitting their four disc carrier into a unique mount), and they can be bought for peanuts for a Kia Sorento or similar, whatever that is!

A tour of the Thames barrier (the '44 did have to stay in the car-park for that one), Porsches on Poole Quay, and Roger Bray's open day within 24 hrs... Does that count as a day on this?

Removed the drive shafts...and machine polished them using 3 different grades of polish applied sealer and finished with 99% canuba wax......polished all the clips to a mirror finish ..applied polytrol to the rubber boots and chrome plated all the bolts... Just incase someone buys those nice shiney new ones from JMG[:D][:D][:D][:D] Really just a boring day fitting the handbrake shoes[:)]

I took off and spayed and adjusted the drivers door handle!! Only took a week now have it nailed so n/s next. Still so pleased with it third week in. Hope to learn how to do more jobs on her.

Yesterday I stripped the AFM off to check and see if would help with my intermittent stalling at idle problem. I cleaned it up and following clarkes garage, adjusted the wiper arm to run in a new position, anyway all back together and a quick spin out and the car feels more responsive ( not sure if this is real or wishful thinking ) and over a 20mile round trip with lots of junctions, it didn't stall once ! Today me and the missus did a run to Jimmy's Farm near Ipswich for lunch which my daughter had paid for as a Christmas present, nice 100mile round trip ( and a nice lunch ) and the car ran beautifully [:D] , smooth , no stalling every time we stopped the revs dropped to just over 900 and sat there rock steady - am I chuffed or what [:D] When we got back to the car in the car park at Jimmy's we were almost nose to nose with a lovely white D reg Carrera, no owner about to chat to but couldn't resist taking a piccy on the phone. Bought some nice rare breed sausages for the freezer as well ! All in all a grand day out as Wallace & Grommit would say. Looks like she'll be up for sale on here now I've sorted the stalling. Today I cleaned the bottom of the front wings, removed plastic trims, greased all metal parts, etc. Amazed how much dirt had gathered since I cleaned them 6 months ago. And I didn't even drive the car during winter.

Finished modifying my vent surround today. After having a sump plug fitted with a temp sensor:

I took a spare centre vent and binnacle surround trim and took out the left vent and fake vents:

Cut down some aluminium, bent it and tapped it for an M4 thread, then epoxied the pieces into position:

Cut down an A5 2mm carbon fibre sheet to size, cut a hole for the (temporary) cheapo gauge and bolted it into place:

Just need to knock up a wiring loom to the sump plug and fit it once I get the car back from the garage.

Fitted a resealed throttle body to the coupe, and found and fixed a split vacuum line. Quick Clean inside and out, put some zinc paint on some of the rusty bits, pumped up the tyres, drove it less than 100m in my mums garden and spun it! loaded it on the trailer. saw a couple of Black 944s on the way north 1 on the M3 with RSR on the plate and another near Bedford with BCF, can't wait and hope my car makes it to the end of the day! Tony

Was that about 10pm last night on the M3? I have a vague recollection of a trailer pulling out to overtake something as I came past, but didn't see what was onboard... As I was in a Black Turbo with an RSR plate, it seems quite likely it was me! Must admit to thinking it surprising I haven't been spotted given the miles I cover!

Jim, it's a vacuum manifold and the 2 banjo bolts on the intake manifold bolt through it. It means that everything can have an individual vacuum line so I can do away with those plastic t joints and eliminate any potential vacuum leaks. The capped port is a spare/test port that I can use to pressurise the system if needs be.

Is that the same as these? http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/176523-new-manifold-designed-manufactured-and-installed.html Where did you pick yours up from? Look very tidy set up

It was indeed.

Gave mine hell today, used a tiny amount of oil, a lot of brake pad and trashed both front tyres. It feels like all four wheels have lost their balance weights. Top fun.
