what did you do to your 944 today

Used a low-loader to take the 951 to JMG's new place in Ferndown. It's a bigger and smarter garage than Jons previous venue, and should allow the chaps to work on more cars more efficiently (without so much time wasted shuffling cars around). Hopefully they will promptly (and cheaply!) get to the bottom of my intermittent power loss problem. Fingers crossed.

Was viewing the new place on his website earlier on, looks good, the only downside for me is its more than a 5 min walk from my house now!

ORIGINAL: andy watson I was hoping to read that you had fitted new CD holder, what on earth are RM doing?
I know, I was going to remove the DIN cubby hole in anticipation, but Ive started to suspect that it wont be coming. I was just looking at replacements on eBay...(

Dropped mine in the garage today to have the belts, water pump changed and look at my head gasket and oil coolent and get to the bottom of the water in the oil before it gets any worse.

Had new rear discs and pads fitted. Didnt have the fronts fitted as Im not sure whether to retain the original calipers or not. Fitted a refurbished airflow meter nd smart new K&N and it ticks over nicely now, so hopefully the MPG figure will improve too! Speaking of calipers, Im going to need a new style (decal not raised lettering) rear caliper soon, as my last remaining old style part had sufficient plate lift to require that the new inboard pad had to have it paint removed in order to fit.

Changed the DME then told the Mrs that I'll take it for a quick spin round the block, 45 minutes later arrive back home .... Where does the time go [;)]

Brought the 220 out of hibernation and off for MOT then Tax tomorrow, stuck some BP 97 in it then cleaned the glass, changed the aftermarket boost gauge to a racelogic +/_ jobbie, i had forgotten how "light & nimble" it is to drive, and to think i nearly sold it ! Need to refit all the freshly washed covers to the Recaro's on the black beasty tomorrow and give it another post Germany wash, the bloody flies are baked on [:D]

DME relay Glenn? The DME is the 'ECU'. [:D] Ive been meaning to buy a spare spare DME relay. Ive been meaning to test the small pile of 'possibly good but untested' ones, too...

Took the 944 for it's MoT today. It only failed on an indicator bulb (no idea how I managed to miss that) and a ball joint. I'm pleasantly surprised! I spent last night struggling to fit a new side light bulb ready for the MoT. What a faff that was. One of the captive nuts was loose so I ended up having to resort to more destructive dis-assembly methods. I'm glad I did it though - I hate to think what the garage would have charged to replace that bulb. On a side note, the ball joint replacement has gone a long way to sorting out the waywardness I mentioned a few months ago. The change is so significant that I wonder how it was missed in the previous MoT. It reflects well on my new local MoT station though. I will be using them again.

Went for a dive in her and smiled a lot! Had her for only two weeks now after wanting one for over fifteen years since I sold my last one.

Like you would not believe I think they are the best car to dive. I hate to say it I like it better than the 930!!!! I would post a photo but it keeps saying file to large and I don't know how to make them smaller?

Tax and MOT for the 220 (advisory on split CV gater) drove and wasjed it, never refitted the seat covers as was doing house things, it may be up for sale soon i have my eye on a house 100 yards away with a huge garage and it even has an upstairs to be adapted for a 4 poster [;)]

Took it to OPC Cambridge for a technical forum event. Always scary to see her bottom but seemed ok [&:] Photo shows Elliott's Turbo S, my 944S and a nice 968. Enjoyed a great day organised by our regions and the centre. [:)]

I carefully cleaned up, ready to fit, a three year old gear lever and radio / cubby box surround trim that I have been squirreling away since 1993. The leather has hardened but the switches are all brilliantly white and unworn and it will look far smarter than the currently fitted and damaged piece.

Went to Prescott Classic yesterday with some mates from R19...two runs up the hill, but on my first I lost it at the first hairpin and put two wheels in the gravel. I've come to the conclusion that at 8 yrs old the tyres have had it...although they look OK, the rubber must have hardened, and grip has suddenly got worse. Checked with my tyre supplier this morning and they reckon that after 5 years you need to be aware that grip will deteriorate. An interesting chat about what to fit...the Bridgestones have been fine until recently. Best for wet grip is Dunlop's Blue Spot, which is A rated. An unconventional choice? Oh, and loading up the picnic stuff, I noticed that all the plastic buttons retaining the boot carpet have lost their spring and fallen out!! Interior's blue, but apparently they're still available. In black.

Dropped my black Turbo into Porsche Leicester for its MOT,had belts etc last year,so just having a checkover and treating her to an exterior polish by their ace detailer[:)]
