what did you do to your 944 today

Stuck the valves spings etc into the head today. will fit it tomorrow night.May get it running by the weekend.

Car is in the garage this week, having a big service, gearbox oil and some go-faster bits fitted. Just waiting for the chips to show up and then I can pick it up and take it to the dyno to be set up.

Not being the most mechanically orientated person I got great satisfaction from tackling some niggles on my new car last night: * Fresh air blower - fixed (blown fuse) * Boot release - fixed - replacement switch * Tatty glove box - fixed - ebay! * Rattly boot - tightened up the bits that secure it so maybe(???) it rattles less - (probably squeeks now!) * Drivers door window switches - now attached to the door using a rear brace to clamp in place since the door card screw placements are destroyed * Ashtray replaced since the lid just slid too and fro around corners - simply annoying! * Cigarette lighter fixed - replacement part so I can have the gopro charging as I use it In progress * Instrument surround - I have a replacement but for the life of me I couldn't get it to fit. The old one was in 2 pieces instead of 1 piece and fitted! * Trip meter - as such it works but cannot be reset. I cleaned the reset switch contacts but no joy. I assume it's the gear wheel that is broken... I'll leave for another day. * Dropping the seats on their side mounts (Recaro Pole Positions on Recaro mounts) - for the life of me I cannot see how to get at the rear mounting bolts since there is a cover over them. I'll persevere and hope inspiration strikes. In the future* Replacement suspension Replacing wishbone bushes with poly bushes Steering UJ Fixing rattles and bangs - no sound proofing so I'm probably more conscious of noises. Sounds to me like every heat shield hits everything around it! Good job I wasn't busy before I got the car [:D] Fun to be 'messing' with a car again after a 25 year break! Mick

ORIGINAL: Diver944 Be careful - they look shinier than Kongsodokens [8D] How much does a full set for both sides cost these days?
Whilst theyre still available I believe that theyre something ridiculous like £150 per side plus VAT!

Front calipers off for an overhaul and new discs and pads. Front wheels dropped in for a refurb and new Michelins. Weekend it'll be rear brakes and handbrake, new wiper blades and hopefully ready for MOT [:)]

Cheers Simon [:)] That is good, it's almost worth getting a set to keep on the shelf until mine wear out again. I should have done the same thing a few weeks ago when someone was selling good foglights. The next week mine blew a sidelight and I had to trash the lights to get the rusty screws off []

Last time I checked one half shaft (for a turbo) cost ~£340 from Porsche... Where do you get them for £150?

Polished the front half of the cab and hosed down the coupe, nice to have them together briefly (the coupe normally lives at a friends unit these days)
