Pete, genuinely can't wait, and I have a 997C2S in the garage at home, not used for 2 weeks at least, might take it to a show tomorrow dependent on weather (997), been splitting bricks up here for 6 weeks now, we have rain now which is good as i fish on our local river Derwent and the fish will not come until the river levels rise.(Salmon)

I save that for the family, and the dogs . Over the last 10 years I've called the car something I can't repeat here 2 or 3 times though.

Where to start? My 1990 944 S2 was hiding a fair bit of rot, so it had to be dealt with.
In the last 3 months, it's been into the bodyshop for:
[ul][*]Sills (both sides)[*]New front wings[*]Repairs to rear quarter panel (rust)[*]Rust repair to A pillar [*]New windscreen[*]Replaced all rubber seals all round[*]Full respray[/ul]Then, major service including:
[ul][*]Replace all fluids[*]New water pump[*]New power steering pump[*]Replace all belts[*]New dizzy cap and rotor arm[/ul]I also restitched the steering wheel as all the old thread had come out. Then re-dyed the wheel. Looks brand new now but was a total pain.
I'd already repaired the clock and thankfully it continues to work.
The car runs beautifully and looks amazing now.
I have to say that i got loads of parts from my local Porsche centre. The prices for the majority of it were very reasonable and it was amazing what they still stock / can make quickly.
I found that i could buy new items cheaper from them than i could find decent used parts for.
Still cost a bloody fortune though and i doubt i'll ever get the money back....

I have finally got around to fitting a new sunroof seal and refitting the rear seats, hopefully this will put an end to the water ingress. I was pleased to find when removing the old seal that a section was still wet with water trapped in the seal, also of note was the fact that the water was past where the outer seal rests on the inner seal, so capillary action had been at play here and explains how the water got past the new inner seal and didn't escape through the drain holes first. I was also pleasing to find that the sunroof still worked, what I mean is, I had feared that with the new outer seal the strain on the plastic gears (still original) would be too much...happily this wasn't the case....

more to add for today, got a call from my son to pop over to the garage(he;s there 7 days a week these days) as the gearbox oil he ordered had arrived. Took him just a few minutes to empty the trans-axle and refill with new oil. I have to say that with a mixture of the new oil and the rear seats and carpets refitted the car is running very quietly and smoothly....I'm driving up to Skegness next week, just for one night to see my daughter and the grandchildren on their holiday by the beach. I'm looking forward to it, it should tell me if the car is ok...

West Cumbria has some cheap properties, depending where you buy, some very expensive ones also if you want the national park, that said sell a semi in London and you could buy a barn conversion or similar with outbuildings and views to die for up here London prices are nuts, I would bet my house would fetch 3 million down there, about £350 k here.

Hi guys
Just an update on the suspected transaxle issues...drove over 300 miles last couple of days with a trip up Skegness and back. no issue with the noise that I had heard before so I'm happy. I know that there's some play in the Diff but I'll live with that for now, the car is driving well which is all that matters these days....
cheers
