Dug her out from winter slumber, got the tracking and camber sorted, reconnected the MBC (since I can't get the EBC to work properly), tidied away all the ECU wiring and footplate. Started her up and went for a quick blast to blow the cobwebs away. Reminded me how much I enjoy this car. She'll soon be moving to a new home with en-suite heated garaging I'll be able to tinker away in the warmth for hours and hours (I'm looking on ebay for a 2 post car lift!)

After 36 years of running Porsches including 924,924S's& 964C2,I experienced the "stereotypical" fuel pump relay failure today whilst queuing at traffic lights waiting after 3 traffic light changes to turn right onto Formby bi-pass.
Took the red 924S track day car to Tesco to get wedding anniversary flowers for Irene -started ok-ran down the bi-pass to Tesco OK -started again ok after purchase & was ticking over very smoothly as it warmed up at the lights.
Road rammed full of cars bedside me ( 3 lanes) & behind as the lights changed, the engine just died & refused to start again.
2 guys cutting the Tesco hedges helped me to push it backwards across the road & onto a slip road
Leading to new McDonalds ( double yellow lines etc) where I checked the engine compartment for anything loose etc-nothing -so started to make plans for recovery when I remembered I always carry a spare DME relay-in fact the 993 improved one was already in place so spare was an old 944 no-
swapped them over & BINGO away we went.

[h1]Forgot to mention as I was contemplating fitting the spare DME,what should swing round off the bi-pass past me -a Porsche Carrera GT in grey-an amazing coincidence-didn't stop to help although driver glanced over.[/h1]Back home ,checked over the replaced relay & also another spare I have with my testing rig(posh words for a PP9 battery & 2 leads fitted with Lucars)
Both coils in each worked & were passing current using my continuity tester-will try both out in the car later to see if they work in the flesh!

Gave it a thorough post-winter storage clean and polish and the weekend, checked all the levels and no top-ups needed.
Took it for a blast around north Notts with the roof off, which was very enjoyable.

All you need to do is let them drive to identical spec cars but one fitted with a crankscraper....they'll soon realise how cheap they are for the difference they make...

Don't Paragon sell a crank scraper for $80? Good news Jonny! - I'm hoping mine gets a clean MOT pass when I've finished (need to stop tinkering)
Today I changed the gearbox oil for the Millers that I got from Stuart and replaced the oil cooler seals at the pump and casing. Why does gearbox oil smell so awful? my garage was stinking - I think Promax used Royal Purple when it was last changed, noticed some very minute metallic particles but not a huge amount and no swarf. The strap for the oil cooler pipe was pretty bad and at only £1.50 from Porsche I've ordered a new one so need to wait for that to arrive before I can call the job "complete". The big strap that sits on the bottom of the coil is NLA so I'm going to try and clean up the one I have or fabricate one out of the remaining aluminum strip I have.
Got out about 2L and put in about 2.2L to get it to the top of the fill hole.
