what did you do to your 944 today

interestingly it uses the same Bosch auxiliary turbo coolant pump as the 944 - but rather than £300 for the Porsche one, or £60 for the Mercedes one I used, the one from Bentley is £1350 +VAT!
joking obviously but I had to drop the engine with the cross member attached as the bolts were impossible to remove whilst in the car.
Managed to remove them after dropping the engine on the crane and they came loose with a satisfying snap, possibly original from factory!

Today I didn't work on the car but I managed to buy myself a pair of NOS Continental Sport Contact N1 225 / 50 R16 for front of my Turbo.

Yes they are a few years old (2014), but very hard to find a set of matching staggered tyres now for the 16" turbo wheels.
Will eventually be sticking some nice 17" or 18" wheels on (after the engine rebuild is completed).
Appreciate the comments I had on these tyres, when they turned up, one of them had been cut quite badly by the courier so the seller ended up giving me a full refund.
Will be looking for some nice 17" Cup wheels or 18" wheels when I come to drive the car again, looks like Michelin do the PS4 in the right sizes for 17".
1. I can see!! so much better with the Night Breakers/lighting loom/cleaned up positive crimps.
2. Wasted spark was definitely worth it. No more misfire on full boost.
3. Feels like it idles smoother too. Possibly related to the higher voltage after cleaning the starter connector.
4. The local B roads have degraded badly.

My fronts are about 6 years old now on the stamp, still plenty life but getting on time to replace them on age grounds.

Yes - I'd be interested to hear what you go for Stuart with the 16s.
Think I will be getting a set of Cup 2s and sticking on some fresh Michelin PS4s...

There is actually a fairly large choice for the front axle, it's the rear axle you're limited on as I'm sure you're aware. Toyo, Conti, Nankang, Hankook, Goodyear, Pirelli, Yoko's, Bridgestone, and Kumho all on ebay at the moment in 245 45 16. Better choice than I remember!

It's genuinely scary - I wouldn't like to guess at the power output but once the boost table is done I'll get it on the dyno to go over the ignition map and see where we end up.

The new turbo is definitely a greater “area under the curve” type than a vastly different curve, spool-up seems a little better and there is no boost roll-off at higher rpms at all, this makes a huge difference to the attitude of the car. Traction control is something that can be done with VEMS and I will be looking at but my winter project is the ABS. I’ve no issue with the medium blacks since a full refurb, extra cooling and a better pad compound but that doesn’t mean a Big Red Brake Package isn’t currently sat in one of my online baskets
I need to sort the ABS and may yank it out for a 996 setup I have on the shelf, will see when I get in there.

Yes I know the discs require centering rings, and the radial calipers require adapters. But I'm looking at it from the non MO30 cheap seats. I'm just waiting for someone that's done the conversion, to endorse it.Eldavo said:The Cayenne disc option isn’t a direct bolt up - M030 front hubs limit options.
