what did you do to your 944 today

So far I have a boost gauge and an afr gauge, just one hole to fill now. I'd be interested to see a picture of where you are having you bung welded in, its a job I need to do still.

Well I know it's a 924S but the lights are the same.2 weeks ago my wife who uses the grey one daily came home from an evening out complaining that her headlights were very poor-had a quick look & found they were pointing 45degs to the ground-checked in the day later & no movement from the headlamp motor-followed Clarkes garage & checked connector-with multimeter-couldn't get the correct voltages & as very busy installing new bathroom suite left it until yesterday after our daughter & family had gone home-fearing the worst--ie.new motor, broken wires etc. In fact simple solution, when closely examined--the 2 male connector pins which are live most of the time gave voltage readings when using test probes at their tips but were found to have a white version of verdigris all over their shafts--so careful use of fine production paper, followed by good spray of contact cleaner on both parts of the connector-followed by application of petroleum jelly with a cocktail stick & bingo!--everything is working properly again--so if it happens to you--suggest initially checking the connector pins.

Don't worry, I submitted a quote for my company to repair it and we won (obviously we were cheapest [:)]) so made a nice bit of profit on the unfortunate event. The old wing is immaculate (apart from a hoofing great dent) but now that it's off the car we'll do a bit of panel beating to see if the whole wing could be salvageable enough for a sale. At the very least it would make a great repair panel for someone with a rusty bottom

Watched the footage,I went into the 993 at 27 mph,was on the tight hairpin, was in a dice and came round hit throttle and "Bang!" Edited to add, My front nose was brand new for the race,as was radiator typical eh!?

ORIGINAL: A9XXC I would have too...... Bet the "old" one has a good bottom....
If the old wing is perfect at the bottom then I may be interested as my passenger side is starting to get very rusty and needs replacing. How much would you let it go for and is the dent itself repairable so I could use the whole wing? I don't want to pay £500 for a new Porsche one if I can help it

Scott, i will get some photo's up proibably at the weekend, there is a bung already in situ which takes the Lambda but in a very hot area near the turbo, this one is on the downpipe section which crosses over to main exhaust about centre below the tunnel at around 30 degrees up (to lose moisture off the Lambda) I have an Innovate AFR and a Racelogic -/+ boost gauge perhaps a oil temp or an external (beside the intercooler) temp gauge ? would be useful. Nice to see you saved the wing Paul [:D]

Today I fitted the quick shift linkage I bought (whilst laying under the car watching thunder and lightnining) boy what a difference it has made, the shift is similar to an old mx5 (ok so a little notchy but not like a spoon in soup which is what it was like before) plus it does not move around so much now when driving.

Had this come through the post a few days ago. [:D] I'm going to try to build a replica of the real one.

Simon I'm not sure about the Italeri kit but some years ago I did a resin right hand oval dash replacement for the Hasequawa kit, if I can find the mould and if enough people are interested I could cast a few for a small fee to cover the cost of the resin. Pete

ORIGINAL: Hairyarse Nice one Simon, any rust in the sills? [:D]
Nope. It's lucky really beacuse I bought it without an inspection or test drive!

Thanks for the offer Pete. The Italeri kit is a LHD oval dash - but I'll be converting it to RHD square dash. I've bought a few sheets of styrene just for the job[;)]. There are quite a few errors on this kit to be honest so I'll be using lots of styrene and filler to get it right.

Meanwhile on the real car... I've recently obtained a replacement airbox from the 'bay. So soon I'll be going from boy racer...

I seem to be missing a couple of parts though. I presume there's supposed to be a supporting bracket at the back and there's an inlet on the left which I presume is for a breather hose? Anyway, I'm happy to be once again removing some of the previous owners' questionable modifications. [;)]

Should be a small bracket at the back - give Elliott a call as hes just up the road and on some versions there is a breather from the top of the cambelt cover to the air box. Later deleted as driving through water the cambelt could throw it up and get sucked into the engine with obvious results! Just plug the hole.

Travelled to Hartech in Bolton and bought a pair of 968 castor mounts. What a cr*p-hole Bolton is. God built the Pennines for a reason.
