what did you do to your 944 today

The original was an American Impreza filmed as they drove about, revved at the lights etc. It made a proper loud QUACK! every time they backed off, and it it was genuinely amusing. After the time Ive spent with Japanese cars anything which interests baseball cap wearers makes me cringe, hence Im very anti-VTA bypass valves unless absolutely necessary (which is rare).

Saucy. Im a big fellow and its a big helmet, but it still cleared the sunroof by a few centimetres! The seat to roof clearance is 900mm (920mm into the recess) with standard seats - I wonder if I can achieve that with side mounted Sparcos?

Sorted out the problem of my leaking washer bottle, turned out to be the pipe that runs behind the front panel to the washer jets had come off the t piece. Simple fix, no, the t piece snapped whilst trying to re-attach it, bugger! Well, the new parts, length of pipe, t piece and valve turned up today and all fitted quite easily once I warmed up the new pipe with a heat gun to make it more flexible, they are a very tight fit. Nice to have working windscreen and headlight washers, first time since I have owned the car. One other small job done, new spring fitted to the auto gear selector so I can see what gear is selected at night. Looking forward to taking the car to the Retro Rides show at Prescott Hillclimb circuit this weekend, better get my polish out and make it look respectable[:D]

Fitted a permanently recording video camera!. I appear to have option M000 (stealth) fitted to my car and despite it being bright red people still seem determinedto pull out in front of me as though I wasnt there!

Now this goes against my wife's belief's, she's convinced that her green fiesta is invisible due to how many people pull out on her. I'm tempted to agree with her as far more cars pull out on me while driving her car than they ever did in the Porsche..:) Pete

This was more of a problem driving the car in my avatar, I will admit. It was grey and very low and I think that it was difficult to see for the average barely-paying-attention driver. Youd expect a shiny red car to be far more easily seen, but Ive had a number of events recently where Ive had to avoid accidents caused by others, so this seemed like a prudent investment.

Interesting... I was considering doing this. Was it complicated / expensive to do, and do you get good quality footage? Just one camera? Thanks.

Between £28 and £54, bepending on whether you want VGA or HD resolution. I opted for VGA. They record when powered up, but 944s have permanently live lighter sockets, so a switched supply will be needed at some point. The windscreen mount is good, but Ive been experimenting with fitting mine to the sunroof lifter cover at the rear of the cabin roof (using self-adhesive velcro pads), as its far more stealthy which is an advantage in a number of ways: you dont want the camera to be a theft target (causing far more damage than the camera is worth) and you dont want an overly enthusiastic police officer fishing for evidence, either. Review: http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2012/4/8/two-smartcams-for-your-car.html Camera that I have used: http://go.redirectingat.com/?id=1044X509854&site=pistonheads.com&xs=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2F200758844751%3FssPageName%3DSTRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT%26_trksid%3Dp3984.m1497.l2649&xguid=9aafc21fbde7ff555e65e282e68f57eb&xcreo=0&sref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pistonheads.com%2Fgassing%2Ftopic.asp%3Fh%3D0%26f%3D210%26t%3D1146908%26i%3D1040%26mid%3D%26nmt%3D Ive added a mini-USB right angle adapter which I had and this has made it all a good deal neater. Without this the power cable meets the camera at a ninety degree angle, but with it the cable can easily run alongside the camera and its all a good deal less fussy. If you watch the review video youll see footage of both cameras. Simon

Went over the rubbers and plastics with back to black (and got mixed results) Tried some gunk degreaser on the engine bay (and got no results..) Sanded down the black fascia that surrounds the lights on the bumper in prep for repainting. (Went well.)
