what did you do to your 944 today

ORIGINAL: Martin Sage Fitted new rubber gaitor (as split) under gear lever leather one. This has stopped fumes smell with windows open and the gear lever is no longer red hot. Hot tip! Attended sunny Classic Car show at Knebworth! Chatted to some fellow 944/924 owners, always rewarding/interesting.
This is the usual reason for hot centre consoles - members take note... How much did the new part cost Martin? Simon

had the car moped and polished 3 times by my local body shop fri ready for todays show at lavenham suffolk wheres it was on disply on pie-performance stand

Sealed the rear light clusters (used bitumen tape), replaced both front disks, checked for play in steering and suspension then adjusted the pop up headlight position by shifting it over to the right a little. Still wrong but a little better. Next on the list is the cam chain tensioner pads, j-pipe and cam gasket. Do the HT leads just pull out and do the bolts on the cover need to be a specific torque setting? I know the bolts on the chain tensioner assembly need to be 10Nm's. Good day today, only one very small nut left on the floor after everything had been put back together! [:D]

Not today but last week drove her from Newcastle upon Tyne to Mansfield on Monday night. Then Tuesday saw me across to Buxton and on to the Evo triangle, all the way down through Wales to Cardiff. Wednesday saw a track day at Llandow and then home to Newcastle upon Tyne. Snapped my alternator belt on track and made it 17 miles from home before the car died and I had to get recovered :) Did it with a load of other 18-30 year old cars and it should be in PPC magazine soon.

Fixed the common non working headlight problem today.

The loom was cable tied to the headlight frame right at this point.

I tried on four different Momo steering wheels, and then refitted the recently fitted original style lozenge.

Wow Andy that's a RED interior...well Burgundy really. I normally don't really like them but I think that looks pretty special. That wheel looks great and they're super comfy in the hands. Wow pt 2...just saw that your car is Saphire Blue...with that interior! Are they both the original colours? Gutsy call but I don't think I've seen one with that combo. Unique. [:)]

The burgundy interiors are more of an ox-blood colour now, for Dr Marten fans... I have had a couple of cars with that colour trim when they were newer and it was a really vibrant burgundy then, but they seem to have browned and dulled now, particularly the steering wheels and the seat fabric. I liked it, although it wasnt for everyone. CanCan really was RED.

Like the pun about 'closure' on the matter! Think I might have the same problem. As the roof will open and close using the spanner in the boot method I assume the cogs/gears are ok so might try the micro switch you mention before taking everything to bits in the boot. Wonder if it is the relay in the fuse box, fuse seems ok. Any ideas please?

Car going really well.. Ive been using it as my daily driver so I had to spend €283 for another 3 months of tax [] That will be me until end of October at least [;)] Put my name down for the Donegal Vintage and Classic Car Club run to Westport in September... Its all in with the Hillman Hunter and Austin A40 Farina heads [:D]

Cheers Patrick for the comments. I do love the colour - both inside and out and have not seen a similar combo myself before - it really works (for me.) According to the Porsche certificate that the last owner sent off for it is all original - it's certianly never had a colour change but the badge panel was painted in recent years. The certificate also lists an LSD as the first option on the list [8D] Just need to check it's still present [;)]

283 euro's for 3 months?.....ouch.. Pete

The S2 came with me to work today now the other household cars (2004 Micra and 2005 S40) both broke yesterday. So they are sitting at a local garage while I sweat waiting for the expensive phone calls, and the ropey old 944 motors on!

I was going to switch to a Momo but I think the lozenge works really well, so decided to spend the money on a clutch slave & master cylinder...

It came with a Prototypo and Ive tried a pair of Races and a pair of Monte Carlos. One was suede which isnt durable and I cant bear to spoil it, so itll probably only be used for competition/track. The leather Monte Carlo is brand new, but its red... I suppose that a red car is the mostly likely for it to suit, but it doesnt look right. Had it been black it might have been different.

Not today but back in June at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, just got pictures from the photographer, was a good day. This picture shows me at the front of the first pace lap. It shows brilliantly behind just how the steep the paddock hill bend is, its a real roller coaster of a corner that finishes in a dip before Druids (where this picture is taken), the grip in the 944 going around Paddock Hill surprised me I have to say...
