What did you do with your 996 today?

Having had the sail through the MOT on Friday, my alternator packed up yesterday (Sunday). Got it to Northway's this morning and Ray managed to order and fit a new alternator within about 3 hours from me arriving and in and amongst all other jobs that they had on today. As always, great service from Ray and the gang there. It was the original alternator that came off the car - so 14 years old and just over 51k miles. I can handle that if I get the same life from the new one.

All I did was top down and a run to the shops to get ice creams!
I'm sure the inside is meant to be black. I think your coating has chipped/peeled rather than being sooted.D911ARK said:Exhaust tips. After reading and replying to a thread in the Cayman section, I took Autosol and some 000 wire wool to my exhaust. Maybe more elbow grease is needed, but I managed to get the black soot off of the bottom of both pipes, but not as much 'inside' the tips. I still cant seem to upload multiple pictures to show before and after, even using Flickr too as suggested in the Tips bit

She’s still at Hartech, been 10 weeks now!
Pete Ansbro said:Ten weeks with Hartech? Wowzers!! What kind of timetable did they offer you?
6 weeks was mentioned when I booked it in.
Although to be fair to them they’ve been cagey about the time frame from the start. Not sure if this is normal or because I’m having the Displacement increased.
Either way with weather like this it would be nice to have it back.

this car never fails to impress me , I've driven many cars over the years from various Mercedes , Ferrari 360 , Aston Martin DB9 and so on , but there's something about a 911 that's so solid and so tight to drive , I can't see myself deviating to any other brand or model .
long live the 911.
The car has had a complete engine rebuild and conversion to 3.9ltr

Hartech are in Bolton and I live on the South Coast so I am taking the long and scenic route back over the next few days through the Dales, Snowdonia, the Breacon Beacons and the New Forest to reacquaint myself with the car and familiarise myself with this new bigger, broader torque curve she now has.
