(Mind you, I am a fuddy-duddy D90 enthusiast, as I admitted to yesterday on the Titanic list, so you may wish to ignore me. Oh, you just did.)

Those 18" "GT3" alloys (which of course have another name....just can't remember it at the moment) look superb on the car. Mechanic at the local OPC had some on his S2.
But..... 17" Cup1's would always be my choice. Gorgeous.
16" Cup1's will be illegal as of 2008 ~ crimes against good taste.

I changed to 996 Carrera 4 17" wheels (as I had them spare - offsets are 55 front and back and 7's and 9's) on a car I recently bought (never drove it with the original wheels on) and the handling is diabolical - the car hunts out the road and tries desparately to change lanes all by itself.
I'm going to swap the wheels back to the 16" Cups (as soon as my fractured foot sorts itself out) but just wondered what others had experienced?
The car had been 4 wheel aligned only recently and had the steering UJ replaced.

When I first went to 17" wheels the tramlining ans wandering was simply awful. I did all the recommended changes, caster mounts, realignment but it made no difference. The tyres were not down to the wear limit (Bridgetsome S01s at 3mm I think) and when I replaced them with new Contis the car was suddenly transformed.
I've just fitted a S/H set of 17"s to my S2 and it has reasonably newish Pirelli P0 Assymetricos fitted which are truly awful for tramlining and wandering. When I get a chance I will swap the fronts with my Turbo fronts that have brand new Kumhos which are wonderful, I am pretty hopeful that the wandering will disappear and then the P Zeros will be off to the tip

Jason I've had numerous different sized wheels and brands of tyres on my cars over the years and sometimes the oddest things make a huge difference.

AH HA!
I've got fairly deep tread Pirelli PZero Assims on these wheelsalso! I wonder if that could be it??!!!
I didn't expect the 17s or the offsets to really be an issue so suppose it could be the tyres on this car....which is not good as I've got 2 sets of them and the only other 17's I have are the Dunlop SSR's on my RS mags (which are about to come off...as I'm putting bright orange cup 1's on...also with SSR's)
Will you let me know how you get on Paul when you change the fronts (PM me)...are you going to leave the Pirellis on the back?
Anyone got any spare 17" front tyres????????
