Young man's first Porsche aka project 951

We did some heater/AC overhaul yesterday. The blower unit was quite dirty. First put it to the parts and removed mechanically most of the dirt

Colin, Love the clever spelling mistake "finnish" very apt- what amazes me about Ollie's posts is -how does he find the time & how many people have dishwashers in their garage to clean car bits?[:)]

Vitesse Sorry not that clever I'm afraid just a spelling mistake. I am just in awe of these posts .This is what I would like to do with mine but I just don't have the time to go to the length of painting heat sheilds etc. I painted all the rear suspension parts and polished the arms and other alloy bits.

Well i am a self employed, run a small Porsche shop, occasionally there is some time for own projects as well. Who said that dishwasher is in my garage...... Don't tell my wife i used our dishwasher to clean car parts [;)]

Got some parts from the platers shop. Now more or less all necessary pieces have yellowpassived or powder coated [:)]

Started also to restore the fusebox. Lots of "powder" from fire extinguisher there since car has suffered a classical 944 engine fire.

All very impressive, you need to start marketing some of the parts that you have developed.............compete with the yankee doodles !

Some progress:

Belts change for 968; also imported from Japan

Removed power windows mechanism. Usually un-serviced 944 windows are so slooooooow. Fortunately 944 system is really easy to remove, took about 5 minutes per door. Then just put systems to parts wash them properly, lubricate well, and install back :)

Windows were fitted back. Also guide rails got some attention, they were re-yellowpassived [:)] Now windows move really fast when all 24 years of dirt has been removed and systems are re-conditioned.

As a "side project" changed belts to a 951 & 944. Quite hot work to do when it was about 30 celsius and even more in the direct sun light :)

My 968 turbo splitter mould is also ready. Just finished a splitter for a friend. Notice a old barbecue grill frame, which is very handy when you do some fibreglass work :)

Here's a good example how not to install alarm system or car stereos. These were made in our southern neibourgh country from where this cabriolet was imported about year ago.

Some minor progress. Original spoiled stereo wires were restored and they have now Iso-connectors. Now car's entire wiring harness is totally restored. Son also ordered Gaz coilover setup, which should arrive next week. It's almost too hot to work with cars. At the moment 34 celsius... As a side project i fabricated a 968 Turbo front splitter for a friend's 968. Some primer

after that i added 5 layers of Midnight Blue Metallic and 5 coats of clear coat :) and installed splitter.

ORIGINAL: os951 New Mercedes seals makes them good as new. I reconditioned both master- & slave cylinders and it cost 15€. Master cylinder is PITA to remove/install back if car is equipped with AC like it was with this Zermatt Silver car. I also changed the hose between cylinders because there was a big hole in it.
Does anyone know if these work on a rhd master cylinder? Also are the LHD and RHD merc parts the same? Thanks, Tony (hoping he can find a seal kit on a Sunday and thinking the merc one might be more common)

Think the LHD and RHD master cylinders are the same and the reservoir is the same we just have a blocked port where the clutch fluid take off is on lhd cars - it was this making me think there may be a difference. Unfortunately my local motor factors no longer does master cylinder seal kits. managed to borrow a master cylinder so car has brakes for silverstone. Tony
