ORIGINAL: PAUL RUDDY I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that collectors/speculators prefer limited number cars, so although a MY89 or later Turbo may have some or all of the unique Turbo S items spec'd as options, the fact that a genuine Turbo S is a limited run M758 special build car will always be more collectible and this should/will be valued higher in the future. Cheers, Paul
I agree 100%. How do you value my car then which seems to be a limited run of 1 MY90 car with the spec it has! Fortunately my agreed value I have reflects this! Cheers Stuart

There will probably be many cars that are 1 of 1 as the options list and colour / trim options were many, I recently came across a Rubystone 944 S2 , non sunroof with bridge spoiler and only 37k on the clock, can't be too many of those about. I would think your car would be priced as per any other MY90 Turbo of similar mileage and condition, except that a certain purchaser may prefer the non sunroof and pay more whereas someone who wants a sunroof may disregard it completely. We can all speculate what we think our cars are worth but ultimately at the point of sale it's what the buyer is prepared to pay, fortunately it looks like buyers are increasingly prepared to pay more for the right cars. Cheers, Paul

Probably fair comment Paul. However the S2 you mention is very rare with no sunroof. I do know of a late black turbo with no sunroof also but in general non sunroof series 2 cars (outwith turbo s) are extremely rare beasts in UK spec. And yes, values for these fine cars are definitely on the up. About time too! Cheers Stuart

ORIGINAL: tref OK, I'll be the pedant, what about August? Should I not be getting GQ (Garage Queen) out in August as well then?
Ha, thank you for the correction [:)] I shall now withdraw gracefully from this thread [:D]

ORIGINAL: scam75 Hi Martin I'm no expert but was under the impression my added notes above were accurate? In my case I have a MY90 turbo, no sunroof, M030 package, CS wheels standard. From what I can gather the only difference between my car and a MY88 turbo s is mine had a bridge spoiler as standard, as all 90 turbos did. Other than that I know of no differences? Happy to be enlightend! Cheers Stuart
Stuart, your car is indeed a rare car as nearly all 944 Turbo's (excluding the Turbo S) seem to have been sold with the sunroof option. This was in a time where it was a must have option on most cars and when you were paying £35-40k on a Porsche what was an extra £1200!! It's like buying a Cayenne, X5 or Range Rover Sport today, you would never dream of ordering one without Sat Nav and leather [:-] Having the M030 and CS wheels is an added bonus also for your car and does make it unique and to lots of people (me included) a car that would be nice to own.

Cheers Martin! I would happily own either of your 944's also! [:D] Stuart

This was a time when PCGB bullied all customers into having the compulsory option. [:D]

Indeed. Porsche Cars GB treated the sunroof as standard at the time, hence every Lux seeming to have one. I didn't know there was an option not to have it until I saw a car without it and asked.

Owned by Porsche then too, not AFN. The forged Fuchs wheels were similarly forced upon 1988 Turbo buyers.

ORIGINAL: Jase1969 Agreed, there's a reason why it's that price.
It looks pretty straight on the face of it. Lots more pics on their website. Not perfect but it could just have had paint, panel gaps seem ok.

Some heavy advertising on auto trader, seats look like they need some work. It would be interesting to have some feedback from anyone who views the car

ORIGINAL: Eldavo The advert says "0 seats" [:D]
I assumed that was a mistake...[:D] I'm not sure that the delete of the rear decal means a rear-end shunt? Exactly the sort of thing you shouldn't do to the cars, of course, but perhaps there's a canny buyer who'd spot the silly mod and knock the price by panicking the seller....

What an amazing thread! From all the opinions and snippets of information it seems clear that the range of prices is now huge, and the average has certainly gone up. This makes the OPs job really tough. How can you tell when one at the higher price is not hiding a big bill? I'm not sure you can. I just hope he manages to find a decent one at a decent price. Good luck! Chris 87 220T (74k, and probably rather average condition, but jolly good fun,if anyone cares).

It's very interesting watching the adverts appear and also to track how long many of these cars have actually been on sale for. I think it's very important for anyone reading this to follow the buyer beware advice and check the car thoroughly and pay for a ppi with a reputable provider who knows these cars. I have yet to find one that I would want to purchase but I'm not in a rush. Thanks
