997 Gen 2 Sports Exhaust

ORIGINAL: Lewea edit: I've tried to get rid of my guest of the club title and sent multiples emails as requested to the forum owner... please can I get my membership recognised and access to all area.... ;-( Is anyone out there???
Mark, I think the quickest way seem to be to post on this thread [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=235860&mpage=5]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=235860&mpage=5[/link] with your membership number. The admin seem to read that one quite a bit and react accordingly. garyw

I've retro fitted the PSE to my 987S and also included wiring to manually control the PSE via a separate switch. The 987 and 997 gen 1 cars use the same switching circuit and control for the PSE , only the silencers are different. The switch wiring , plugs in line with the existing using new connector blocks so there is no need to cut any cables. The control switch can be fitted anywhere you wish inside the car, I have fitted mine under the handbrake and purchased a new trim insert so it can be converted back if I wish. . The PSE can now be switched to loud mode at will , bypassing the override below 30 mph and avoiding sport mode.

sorry for the late reply as ive been on holiday, but... wow, thanks that is just what ive been waiting to hear - somebody first hand reporting on the brown plug.2 issue! I shall be unplugging mine - when I get one that is! Cant wait - have emailed the dealer again this morning to see if there is any news on UK parts for retrofit.

Any updates on this yet? I'll be making a phonecall to my OPC soon but wondered if anybody has heard anything?

I've phoned two OPC's in within the last couple of weeks and...........................nothing.

They don't know when, how many, how much etc. Situation normal. Good luck with yours!

Hi All, After all the talk of exhausts during the weekend, and hearing that PSE's are now being slowly delivered to OPCs for retrofit (thanks Alex!), I decided to ask my OPC for leadtime and cost. But obviously, they do not want to sell me such item [] as they've not bothered to get back! Bloomin OPCs, why can't they return calls/emails these days....</rant over> Can anybody put me out of my misery (please) and tell me how much fitted? Cheers.

I'm waiting to hear back from both Exeter and Cardiff both of whom say I'm near the top of their list. One said "about £2k" and the other about "£1.8k" but both agreed that it hadn't been priced up yet! I'm also waiting on an answer to the sport suspension retrofit question from Cardiff. It's another of those tumbleweed moments (that OPC's seem to specialize in) as nothing was heard but the wind................The whole process is becoming so ballsachingly tedious that I might just kick the idea into touch and put the money towards a track toy instead. Hey ho.

Yes I know the feeling! I managed to get a price today (finally). It's 2218.00 incl. VAT fitted. Yes, there's definately a back-order problem, as Bournemouth OPC couldn't give me any idea of timeline. I think it's very expensive given the fact that the exhaust wasn't available as an option at launch. I think I may bring this up with them :)

I was considering a PSE on my gen2 c2S as I greatly enjoyed it on my gen1 997. However at the price mentioned I can do without it. It seems an outrageous amount especially with the news today of the strengthening pound!!

£2218!!! - That is silly money! I negotiated a price in the cost of my car and suffice to say it was almost the same as the factory fit price, although Ive since called up to to cancel it and put it towards the deposit on the GT3....

Given that it wasn't available at launch they should fit it for free and charge us the 1610 euros (on the website) + VAT, which is around £1600 at today's exchange rate. I certainly won't be paying more than that and if we all take the same view they might have quite a few in stock that they can't shift. If they ever turn up that is............

I've made my feelings known this morning to the OPC as 118.00 + VAT x 6 hours is outrageous given the fact it's taken this long to get it released! Out of interest, do PCGB members get 10% discount on parts at OPCs? Cheers.

And their response was? Yep, members get 10% off, I believe - I'm sure GaryW would confirm if he wasn't in Le Mans!

Standard response from Aftersales, telling me what I already knew.....(Very expensive fitting time basically, blah blah etc) Said the part was still being developed at the car's launch (like we didn't know this already!). No compromise offered, I've responded and will wait and see what happens next. I'm thinking of going down the 3rd party route now, any ideas on good exhausts available for the gen2 PDK? Cheers

I recently got 10% off on both parts and labour when mine went in for its first service, I shopped around as some only give 10% on parts.

aftermarket exhausts [ul][*]Cargraphic, [*]Milltek [*]fvd Brombacher[/ul] Not sure on the spelling on the last one - all three do quality exhausts that as a byproduct help fatten the torque curve a bit - especially if you get an engine re-map with it (DMS/REVO/CHIP wizards) Of course if you get an after market exhaust it invalidates your warranty Mind you the fvd guys do a performance kit (filters/exhaust/remap) and claim 423bhp, compatible with PDK - sounds almost too good to be true.....

Is there a case for a bulk buy deal (10% is not good enough) - surely there must be at least 20 members wanting the PSE. My salesman did agree verbally that the price would be the same as the factory fitted option but that was when ordereing the car nearly a year ago and I have nothing in wiriting. Will have to speak to him when I get back home in a few weeks.
