997 Gen 2 Sports Exhaust

Thanks everybody for the links and information on 3rd party exhausts. Will take a look. My OPC came back earlier this morning and reduced the cost to 1900.00. Still alot but at least there's a sign of compromise. Cheers, Simon

you should get 10% off parts (and maybe labour) with your Porsche Club card. I did when I retrofitted my 997.1 C2S sports exhaust!

You can get a lot more off parts like this if you haggle hard. Parts that you "need" for the car as part of a service or breakage are one thing and they wont discount these, but parts such as this that are luxary items are much easier to haggle over. I was haggling over X51 on the gen1 car and was offered a parts discount of over 25% and discount on the standard labour rates too! The only problem with looking for a discount on PSE at the moment is that there arnt actually any around to discount. The benefit of PCGB membership is that you can get 10% on everything - including the parts that otherwise wouldnt be discountable.

Heard the Gen 2 PSE at Castle Combe the other day and it sounds great. As for news.......

Good news! My C2S Cab with PSE in now in build, but I have not heard a PSE in full song. After the disappointment of the sound from my Cayman + PSE, I am obviously hoping for something better.

And it is turned on and off by the exhaust button, not the sport button and has a black (not brown) plug to disconnect for permanent loudness. Also the tailpipes don't look as obscene in the metal as they do in the photos!

Agreed, having seen and heard them on a couple of runs out, I don't think Derek will be disapointed- but then again....[&:] [;)] garyw

Gary, are you daring to suggest that my new C2S will not be my last Porsche? You know I will keep it forever. [:D]

I want one!!!!!! :) BTW, anyone doing any of the EVO trackdays / evenings at Bedford? I'm thinking of doing Bedford on the 10th July.

ORIGINAL: lsimmo I have returned to a Porsche after 14 years of other cars.   I purchased the car from the official local OPC and have been disappointed by their lack of detailed knowledge about the Porsche range of cars and the options and functionality that are available to current and perspective owners.   They appear to be run by financially focused people in a glass palace that are not in touch with the passion that surround the pedigree of the Porsche mark.   I love the car but despair at the OPC who have the privilege to sell this car   I would love to find an OPC that fulfils this aspiration any suggestions
They know just enough to reel in your average badge buying Jo who's their main clientelle. Enthusiasts have no place at an OPC dont you know!

Don't agree. Most of the staff at Porsche Centre Swindon are very clued up. Ceri from sales and John from the workshop are exceptionally knowledgeable. Both are very enthusiastic.

Back on thread does anyone know of any OPC that has received Gen 2 PSE's for retrofit? I think they were originally planned for end of April and here we are in July and still no news.

Certainly coming through now albeit on backorder at many OPCs. I did make a visit to the Miltek stand at Goodwood and they were very keen to offer me a heavily discounted exhaust as part of their development for the Gen2. Cheers

Collected my new C2S PDK Cab today with PSE. A huge improvement on the PSE I had fitted to my Cayman S. As for aftermarket devices, I'm not too sure. Several emit an unpleasant booming noise at 3500 rpm. Just when you don't need it. I'm well satisfied with this PSE.

I would like to hear it in action on mine too! Spoke to Exeter OPC today - nothing except the "they're on back order" speech.

ORIGINAL: dereksharpuk Gary, I will be at the 997 Concours at Castle Combe. You can then judge for yourself.
err,. and you expect to reach the rpm where the exhaust starts to sing at what point during this static show [;)] Derek, Looking forward to it..[:)] garyw

Had a call from Swindon OPC yesterday, my PSE kit has arrived! Will be fitted next week, so the beast will get it's voice, at last! [:D][:D]-------[:D][:D] Hopefully, this means you other guys with back orders will get your PSEs very soon, as well...
