Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

lets suppose porsche do build another spyder and include the cayman R.yes they will have buckets sports suspension lsd etc but the sad fact is they will only have 10hp increase as per 987.so only 5hp over the first model plus they have electric steering etc whereas the 987 which will in my eyes always be the best as per gt3 996rs

I was thinking along the lines they can increase the bhp more than the the token 10bhp because I am suggesting increasing the standard spec, increase the price closing the gap to a 991 but pushing it away from 981 S performance enough to justify my proposed price hike. Better performance than a 991 won't cost them a single sale because the Spyder was, is and always will be very limited appeal because of the hardcore character and that marmite Suncap & Scarf If you use your Spyder personal knowledge and imagination on how the rear deck with the 3rd brake light bar would look I think a 981 Spyder would be a little like this but with it's rising new wings a much more pleasing overall effect [:D]

A massive improvement over your previously preferred Spyderwoman John[;)] Was beginning to worry about you[:D] spyderwhite, I would expect a 981 Spyder to have 10bhp over the second generation 981 rather than the first as it probably won't come out until at least then, but with all these small increments Porsche keeps enforcing to keep the hierarchy, I don't expect that to make much difference. If the gen 2 991 arrives before the gen 2 981 and the tune on the 3.4 Carrera increases from 350hp to say 365hp, then maybe the gen 2 Cayman S will get 10hp more and a Cayman R be allowed to creep up to 345hp. The Spyder may therefore get 335hp. Purely speculation but it all gets so silly for Porsche as these increments in years to come will be on a engine already producing 350hp today[&:]. They need to stop trying caress the numbers to keep a few tenths of a second gap between Boxster, Cayman and Carrera. My mate with a 3.4 991 is thinking of going back to Boxster in a few years and he didn't go for Carrera based on a few tenths, he wanted a 911. Oh well, we've ranted about this before and they repeat the same farce but we still buy their great cars[:D]

if talking gen 2 981 and at the end of you will be waiting until at least end of 2018.got to that because each model with both generations/facelifts is 7 years'

ORIGINAL: Andy Fagan After having a ride in Cecils Spyder on Saturday I was staggered how much better it was than my 987 2.7. Engine so much crisper with so much more power and the pick up was exceptional along with the brakes and turn in etc. I could feel all of this from the passenger side and at the time I thought I would love one of these if I could afford it, but then the reality of it made me think it would not be as practical as my Boxster for general use. I think they are the best looking car in the Porsche stable with the roof off, but with it on changes it to the other extreme. I know I'll probably get "flamed" on this string but it's just my opinion [8|]

Andy tries out the roof & apart from the bar hitting the body (something that'll be cured with practice) finds it not too bad at under 60 seconds to complete[;)] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12__6p--A9E&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I would rather take another minute or two and do it correct without striking the body work with the metal hoop and eye [:(].. John Like the cap will need to look for a supplier who can do the same with Spyder script / logo as the car on them ,could promise them a bulk order 2 Red and 4 White[:D][:D] Brian

Yeah it does sound good Andy, as does this one proving it's a car for all seasons[;)] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paD9of5hYfw&feature=related

Hmmm, looks like some mods on that.... Ceramic brakes and wheels look bigger possibly, exhaust doesn't sound like std either [;)]

Sounds good to me. Unlike daro i'm not in the market for another one. That's why my 987 has to stay [:)]

I wonder why the massive drop in top speed but a roadster that is lighter than the coupe will draw similar comparisons to what we have seen in the 987 world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YwG2wD69P4

I don't know - was thinking they were 19's but perhaps with winter rubber. Some of these exhausts sound beefier than mine. Don't know if they're different in different countries or if it's how they overpower the video camera's microphone, or as you say, if they are non-standard. This one is loud too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp3t64t395g

ALL the sound is dubbed on that one. I'm off to USA again tomorrow and I'm surprised they didn't dub a V8 sound track to it [:D]
