John there are far too many nice low mileage cars currently tucked up in garages and in time they will surafce and come to market so IMO there is no need what so ever to buy second or third best with way above average Spyderman mileage for a saving of a few thousand pounds The chase is as much fun as the final deal when it is all doneORIGINAL: jdpef356Well I was the first one to see it the day after it came in (last Tuesday) Please bear in mind that car had only been washed and not valeted. The car has a good spec (the sort I'm looking for) But I did not get that warm feeling which I feel is essential - I want the hairs on my neck to stand up on my first encounter. I knew I was going to see a 25k miles car but was not aware it had three previous owners. Exterior Condition of car. Wheels need re furb and two new back tyres. Rear of the car needs paint as several chips on the back boot and lower spoiler area. Scuffs/chips on inner door sills and door edges where seat belts shut in door. Interior Condition of Car was grubby and seat belts looked almost brown rather than red. We were now feeling a bit disappointed and even had the car been valeted it would have done nothing for us[:-] History of Car Salesman regretted no books/ history at the time of viewing but they said would call me when the previous owner delivered them. (no call to date) Verdict Well, needless to say its not for us. I would consider the average mileage of a Spyder to be around 4k a year. The average price is approx $36K. This one at close to 26k miles and just a tenner short of £33K will not be easy (I could be wrong) to sell to an enthusiast. I have a three page print of from the local Porsche centre with full spec etc if anyone is interested, let me know.ORIGINAL: flat6Hi John Does this one tick the right boxes? Not a bad price for the mileage but they probably got it for a lot less at that milage. Just a thought, if there's holes in their warranty, you could try to haggle for the cost of getting a 2 year Porsche warranty on it (I think around £1500 for 2 years and £800+ for 1 year) or something towards it, so that you can add that on yourself afterwards if you so wished.ORIGINAL: jdpef356 The Cambridge White Spyder is in stock with pics see [link=http://www.cambridge.bentleymotors.com/Pre-Owned-Models/search/Porsche_Boxster_4928741/]http://www.cambridge.bentleymotors.com/Pre-Owned-Models/search/Porsche_Boxster_4928741/[/link]

Apologies for the delay gents! Managed: Spyder wheels, BMW wheels, Abarth wheels, wash Spyder, wash Spyder again (Zymol auto-bathe) , wash BMW, wash Abarth, dry Spyder, clean Spyder door shuts and then I had to abandon my mistress for management and just back from a day out. Got this far, so end of stage 1 but I reckon wax needs a top up:

Thanks. All being well I'll be able to finish it off today. What are the black surrounds around the bolts on your wheels? Look like a good way of preventing the dirt trap that is normally there and awkward to clean?
Well spotted, that completely passed me by. Look out for the excellent write up of my trip to Specialist Cars of Malton buried away in the R18 section if the mag [
] They don't look the same in black, they lose some of the lines!

This is a Boxster S - not the 986 Spyder as mine is - none the less a close relative (Badge and humps) in nice colour combo - Pete Bull had similar colour combo when he had his 996 cab - looked great IMHO!ORIGINAL: flat6 One for you John http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151034416642668&set=a.10151034405762668.450315.53855227667&type=3&theater Click around for other great Porsche pics
Here's me doing my wheels. OK, they're my wheels but it's obvious who's doing them [
] I try to do the inner of the rim every other wash. So, that'll be next week then[
] The sealant he put on provides resistance to dirt. For anyone getting the black wheels, notice that the edge is silver and the inner rim is grey. If the whole rim is painted, it hasn't been done at the factory[

All this talk about wheel etc prompts me to ask:- DO YOU SPYDER OWNERS SUFFER WITH YOUR NUTS - OR ARE THEY JUST A LITTLE BIT RUSTY? Recent extract from my Regional Report in Porsche Post. As usual NAT (News at Ten) gave the events updates and it was onto TOM - Tip of the Month. With our concours event just around the corner it was time to ask. Do you have Rusty Nuts? Well someone had a cure! With the aid of a small plastic coke bottle with the bottom cut off and the neck end cut off to fit tightly over your nuts and a can of Spray Silver Paint the TOM Teller was trying to pass on his tip through much banter, harassment and laughter. Quite how in the demonstration the Bottle finished up on Tim’s Maddison’s nose I don’t quite know but with many baying for the spray to be used I somehow resisted. Onto JON (Joke of the Night) and the usual suspects took to the floor sending us all home with a chuckle.
Rob - my eyes / Optical illusion / iPhone screen - it's because they are so clean! Nearly done now.
Need the road to dry a bit now so I can clean the brakes and start all over again!

I'll check mine tomorrow. How long does it usually take before they start to rust? Years? Months?ORIGINAL: jdpef356 All this talk about wheel etc prompts me to ask:- DO YOU SPYDER OWNERS SUFFER WITH YOUR NUTS - OR ARE THEY JUST A LITTLE BIT RUSTY? -------------------------------- Mine is the 986 550 Spyder - unlike your cars fitted with just about every option as standard and then just a few more at order point. Thus making it the Spyder - Heavyweight!
