nice photoshop that, and it looks good. but no never, the steering in the 981 Boxster is awe full. and the front too 911 like. It's also slightly bigger and I have a hard time getting the current one in my garage as it is. Bigger is not good. I still doubt they will ever do one. I did a track day in mine again on Monday and it's a feelsome car, last of a era.

I think you will find dimensions are almost identical a fraction longer but strangely same width despite looking a lot wider in the flesh Do you ever track the "R" too

I did once, but on road tyres it's crap, so don't see a point. I only did about 2 x 4 laps and went home . road tyres are pointless on track days, they cannot cope at all. the race maxx are full time on the Spyder and they are amazing, and also great on the road also. I also don't like the brakes vs the PCCB on the spyder, they are very lacking on the R on track.

Surprised when i saw that photo i sincerely hope it is just a photo shop if not the values on our cars are on the way down [:(] I actually like the new shape of the 981 the front end looks nice IMOP And yes i would consider buying one if it ever came on the market at the right price The 981 is a totally different car to the 987 and like wise so would be a 981 Spyder .

More letters on the back in this mock up than in a dictionary![;)] Brian You will have to work on you man re side scripts. How about removing the PORSCHE and replacing with SPYDER something along the lines you had your number plate done?

How about removing the PORSCHE and replacing with SPYDER something along the lines you had your number plate done? Seeing him on Sunday at our Concours show and will ask the question and maybe he could make up a FOC sample just to fit the door only bit .I am sure i saw a Spyder script in his web site . Have you not removed the Boxster script from the boot yet ?

Yeah, they're not quite right are they? Brilliant photoshop. Gives pause for thought. I think I'd rather have some flavour of GT3 if I was changing mine, I don't think I'd want copycat Spyder2. It would be a shame if they made the mock up. It would be a transparent marketing exercise, not light weight and ours would lose some of their rarity value.

What are you betting against 981 Boxster R? Options list special, launched in an unusual colour. Badged GTS potentially. Almost inevitable.

Brilliant find daro! If I was in market for another Spyder after mine i'd be tempted by one looking like that[:)] The reviewers of the 981 Sport Chassis certainly make it sound like ours, so no doubt a 981 with Sport Chassis and Spyder open top would be as good ours. Will they make a 981 Spyder? I think from their perspective, the Spyder turned out too good for the price point. Looks better than the £144K limited edition 997 Speedster IMHO and was certainly more innovative. The fact that they've released the Sport Chassis on the standard 981 to me means, there's little left to differentiate a Spyder other than looks. Not that looks aren't a big part of what sells a car. I think there is more chance of a Cayman Clubsport, as in a proper Cayman makeover with as much effort as our Spyder. The current R doesn't differentiate itself at all in body work from the standard S, which had the Aero Kit option available to it for many years before the R claimed it.

I was out today with the good lady and spent most of the day down the coast .I normally visit Ayr where there are loads of car showrooms a trade off for a promise of a lunch and a evening meal[;)] allows me some time to browse. I went into the showroom and had a look at the Silver Spyder that i mentioned was for sale at £38K It was in lovely condition having done 9k miles .I was approached my the salesman and he asked me do you like it and i smugly replied i have already got one!! . He explained that he had several inquiries about it .One couple he told me where really interested but had read that the hood was only shower proof and this put them off it .I said rubbish and told him that i had been in two really heavy downpours and not a drop got inside the car so tell any prospective punters it is not an issue .The previous owner trade it in for a motor home[;)] Brian

The salesman had not done his home work or he was driving it every weekend and did not want to loose his weekend steed[;)] Enjoy your weekend and perhaps see you at Silverstone! [:)]
