Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Kenny It is indeed to reflect wind you should have both fitted go back to OPC Edinburgh and get them to order them under warranty .When i got mine due to terrible weather did not have the hood off for weeks and then i noticed the perspex deflector was missing the clips where there but no deflector ,they ordered a new one for me had to wait as where on back order . To be honest they are not as good as the ones that come with the 911 cab's you get no wind intrusion into the cabin anything above 60 in a Boxster the wind is a bit off a nuisance especially for a female passenger .just buy a polo neck and a scarf[:D][:D]

just back from a run in the Spyder tonight, may not be as fast as the GT3 RS but great on the twisty bits, still loving it! Kenny Spyder ps: Has anyone had trouble with the plastic mesh that sits within the roll over hoops? My passenger side one has broken clip and fell out, the drivers side one dosen't exist. Are they there for a reason? Do they do any good? [/quote] An OPC supplying a used car with parts missing is really poor show IMO Get them to back order a pair and post them straight out to you a s a p as they make a substantial difference to cabin turbulence and are essential for those wonderful crisp dry winter blasts Forgetting the obvious power differences how does the ride and handling stack up against your old GT3 RS which was a big leap forward over the 996 versions

Interesting concept here [:D] The Speedster is undoubtedly a collector’s dream. With just 356 cars to satisfy a global market (including the USA), demand is sure to outstrip supply. Unsurprisingly many are already spoken for, including the full UK allocation, which rather proves Porsche Exclusive knows its customers inside out. That’s perfect justification for Porsche to build it, but if Porsche Exclusive’s level of, er, exclusivity, isn’t your overriding consideration then objectively the Speedster is a total extravagance. A 997 Turbo S Cabrio is MUCH faster and still usefully cheaper, while the forthcoming GTS Cabrio features the same wide-body, rear-drive and 408bhp motor combination, but with the added appeal of a manual transmission option. Perhaps the most compelling argument against the Speedster is the thought of a 997 GT3 and a Boxster Spyder in your garage for the same money. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/259024/porsche_911_speedster_review.html

ORIGINAL: daro911 It would appear (no longer on Pistonheads) OPC East London's 20k mile Spyder with right chairs wrong gears right colour and extremely high list price for mileage has been sold[&o]

Any plans for a Spyder meet? If not how about arranging one? I would suggest Weybridge, Surrey (because I live in Weybridge!!) Am happy to sort a venue if anyone interested in getting a few Spyders together? Simon

I am in North London so I don't think we are far apart on a meet maybe in or around Hayes or Central London even[8D]

I'm up for a meet! However, in order to maximise the the numbers that can attend I think we need to get a venue that is fairly central. Would also be good if we could make it somewhere interesting where we could make the most of the gathering and get some good photos of the group with an interesting backdrop. Anyway, one thing at a time - count me in.

Agreed. The reason I had initially suggested weybridge was because I think I could get us in at Brooklands museum. But totally agree, the greater the numbers the better, so once we get a roll call we will have a better idea. Would be great to aim high and have a Spyderfest!

Also its great to have tyres that actually have some grip in the wet, the RS's Pilot Cup Sports were terrible in the wet to the point where I just didn't bother taking the car out if it was raining, great in the dry once warmed up though. Re - Spyder meeting place, how about Stirling Castle, loads of parking, nice scenery, at least Brian and I could make it there!!!!

Anyone up for a meet here on "Sunday" as the weather is certainly set fair[;)] I can drag 2 other Spyders along with me [link=http://www.greatfosters.co.uk/]http://www.greatfosters.co.uk/[/link] Lunch tables available 12.45 & 13.30[;)] Teas from 14.30

Could certainly make that on Sunday, if a little earlier- have a bbq to get to, so would have to skip the lunch bit, but how about we meet around 11am there....?
