Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

P.S. i'm still waiting to hear if any cars got lifted by balloons[:D][;)]
ORIGINAL: flat6 Sorry Brian I am still catching up and will upload the 'Porsche in the Glen' pics next. I trust those aren't pay and display parking stickers on your windows in the below pics! I also assume that you and your Spyder are in the red balloon?:ROFLMAO:

Hey Rob, the guy I bought the R from left a load of books in it!! He worked for Thomson Reuters, the Sweet & Maxwell side [:D]

ORIGINAL: gouldian From the Glen pics. I assume that KCR151 is one of you guys. If so a question please. The inside face of the black wheels (ie opposite side to the tyres) is finished in what appears to be a whitish primer with some shine to it. From time to time either stones or tar mark this surface and the paint seems thin leading to the base easily grinning through when trying to remove said blemish. Despite my best efforts and patience (might be wearing thin as well!) it appears that Porsche have no reference/part no. for the paint and that which I have been given is too grey and therefore no match. Anyone been successful in matching?
hi gouldian re KCR 151, I had a look at the finish of my wheels in the inside and cannot say that mine look whitish, they have more of a of a greyish primer look, however paint surface seems fine. Up to now I have only used soapy water to clean them, not sure if that would make a difference or not, it may be that something too abrasive has been used on them in the past. Mine are more or less the same as the picture posted by Andy Fagen on page 254 however Brian is correct and my wheels are slightly different although they were standard wheels on my car when new. Get rid of them quick - they can be very heavy!

No not parking tickets just a nice note to say ".Children keep you sticky fingers away from my car " [:D][:D] Actually say's "please no not touch "....had to ask some people what part of that sign do they not understand [:D][:D]

I think the contrast of the three different colours of the car enhances the image! Re your note 'Sticky fingers' If the Spyder had running boards I would not be purchased one! I once owned a Panther. This had running boards and it was not unusual to return to the car at a show to find three kids on each side of car danicing up and down on the chrome strip and highly polished oak![]

Many years ago I was in Portals Nous Majorca having dinner one evening and parked on the pavement by the restaurants and bars was the most amazing Harley Davidson I had ever seen and on the highly chromed (brass) gearbox cover he had the following message " This Bike Is MY Life F**K With This Bike & You F**k With ME" I observed everyone including myself slowly but steadily steps a few paces back from the machine after reading the warning [:D] Picture is to illustrate the size and place where the message had been etched into as you can see very striking and easy to spot but the Harley I saw was a stunner if you like that sort of thing

ORIGINAL: flat6 Now reduced to £33,995!! Dear oh dear!!
WP0ZZZ98ZBS740107_1.jpg
Question is Why won't it sell? Anyone seen it? Four other Spyders at Porsche Centre and average price of one would be £40.625.
Have just spotted Swindon have the twin spec car for £37850.00 4200 miles same age same wheels same colour same full leather heated chairs same age 03/10 but the 14k miler has a good few more option boxes ticked so is exceptional value compared to its 4k mile twin I would guess Porsche HQ ordered them up as a pair of stock cars in what would have been a very desirable spec at the time[&o]
WP0ZZZ98ZBS740083_4.jpg
Well spotted I think you're right, must've been spec'd by the same person. http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/uk/clients.print_car?fin_=WP0ZZZ98ZBS740107&lang_=EN http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/uk/clients.print_car?fin_=WP0ZZZ98ZBS740083&lang_=EN Now someone can consider themselves getting a £4K saving with the Byfleet car over the twin car at Swindon [:D]
Seems to good to be true having an OPC car so cheap and might be putting people off. Or there maybe someone watching it, unsure of where the price drop will end. PC Byfleet should put the price back up and the watcher will swoop in with a panic buy[;)]

To Be or Not To Be [&o] Porsche marketing hit the correct formula with the 997 Speedster just 356 worldwide to customer orders only. It’s was no brainer after selling just 936 examples of the 964 Speedster out of a proposed run of 3000! and if I recall correctly they weren't charging a premium for less car too "IF" Porsche did another Spyder tradition should dictate that the car must be light, unlike the 997 Speedster which went against the grain refs weight and PRICE, the suncap signiture should remain even if refined some more with say a perspex glass rear screen but if they upped the power to 3.4 Carrera levels i.e. 340bhp+ kitted it as standard with PSE Sports Chrono PDK or Manual for the same money and offered a couple of bespoke Spyder only colours then they could seriously raise the price to compensate for what should be a limited run of just "981" cars worldwide on a first come first served basis until the allocation was sold Porsche bean counters would be happy with the increased margin and marketing with the increased model interest from petrol heads in general and dealership foot flow Spyder Gen1 owners will be happy as this could push up their values and "981" lucky new Gen 2 Spyder owners worldwide would have an exceptional sports car even though it may come with an equally exceptional price tag to match[8D] Any takers?

That'd be the perfect formula daro. If there had only been 987 of our Spyders worldwide and say ~100 in the UK, there'd be none at OPC's right now and no dealer-spec'd hard-to-shift deviations from the best formula. It's amazing how much the wheels are coveted for their weight and their look, so why dealers took them off and replaced with either turbo II or Carrera S II is baffling.

They are even dearer than the genuine 997 sport classic's wheels - a former Spyderman is selling some on here and there is a link to a specialist alloy wheel supplier. A 981 Spyder would need to somehow recapture the raw driving abilities of our cars not sure how they could easily do that with steering and manual gearing as they currently are?

Where Rob? I wouldn't mind another set of Spyder type wheels [8D]
